The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4: Is June going to jail?

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 Updates: In The Handmaid’s Tale season 4 conclusion, June Osborne murders Fred Waterford with the help of several former Handmaids, a stunning choice that demonstrates how much she has endured and evolved.

June and Fred’s feud has been simmering for quite some time. In some ways, this is true throughout The Handmaid’s Tale’s duration, but especially in Season 4, when June has the authority to seek justice for her abuser for the first time.

June’s hand was forced when Mark Tuello opted to cooperate with Fred, who had turned against Gilead after realizing there was no way he and Serena Joy could return there safely.

Fred was returned to the Republic as part of a deal with Gilead in exchange for 22 women they had detained there, but that wasn’t enough for June. Instead, she arranged for Fred to be brought to No Man’s Land, where she and other former Handmaids brutally murdered him.

June’s struggles to deal with her trauma and her newfound independence are depicted in The Killing of Fred. June has physically fled Gilead, but she still bears the scars of what occurred. With Fred appearing to be on the verge of becoming free, June would once again be stuck in a world with him, her own feeling of freedom dwindling.

June wants him to feel the same dread she had when she was kidnapped, tying his dying moments to hers in Gilead; given that he was one of the architects of her destiny, it’s natural that she’d want to end it in the same way.

Distractify

Because so many women have lived in dread of Fred and others like him, she believes it is a just punishment. June also bites off Fred’s tongue. She can now retaliate by biting back.

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4: WILL JUNE GO TO JAIL?

June droves home and picked up baby Nichole, who was still daubed with Fred’s blood after she and the others returned from the woods at daybreak after hanging Fred Waterford up.

When Luke awoke and saw her, he knew she’d killed Fred without saying anything, and he was horrified. June said to Luke, “I know, I’m sorry,” and requested five minutes with Nichole before leaving.

The question is, where is she going? Is June intending to flee the scene of the murder, or will she turn herself in to the cops, or does she just realize that Luke and Moira will never forgive her for what she’s done, and she won’t be welcomed back into the family home?
