The third season shows that the main teenage characters fight against Scorpius rex, a hybrid dinosaur-like nothing they have ever dealt with before.

They successfully defeat the dinosaur while simultaneously interrupting the attempts by Dr. Henry Wu to retrieve his research on the hybrids and dealing with the emotional impact of leaving their newfound family.

The third season has a lot of references to the Jurassic Park franchise and in the final episode, the third season teases the possibility of a fourth season as well. Here are some of the references:

The Helicopter – The story of season 3 overlaps with the beginning of Fallen Kingdom. We find out from the pilot of one of the helicopters that arrive near the end of the season that they are not there to rescue the teenagers, instead, they are there to find the remains of the Indominus rex and extract DNA.

Scorpius rex – Just like in Jurassic Park the dinosaurs could change their sex, Scorpius rex has developed the ability to produce her own offspring.

Blue – Blue, the sole member of the Velociraptor pack to survive the Jurassic World incident, crosses paths with the teenagers a few times.

The Kitchen – When one of the Scorpius girls follows the kids into the visitor center’s kitchen, one is reminded of Tim and Lex (Joseph Mazzello and Ariana Richards) hiding from the raptors in the first Jurassic Park movie.
