Super Mario Warp Pipe Lookalike Planters Draw Criticism In English Town

Super Mario Warp Updates: A town from West Midlands County, England named Walsall came in the news recently for something really strange. It’s city council was criticized heavily for placing huge planter pots very similar to warp pipes from the game Super Mario.

Remembering the video game, it was released back in 1981 and it’s iconic Italian plumber has been famous since. For nearly 40 years the game has only increased in popularity becoming a household name.

Super Mario is not where it all stopped for character Mario Luigi, who has featured in tons of platforms since. Mario Party was another released in 1998 having a lot of minigames with the Mario character.

Coming to recent days, Mario Golf: Super Rush is set to release by end of June this year. Featuring Mario and other game characters, it is a standard gold game featuring the same.

News channel Birmingham Live reported the city council of Walsall installing six of Super Mario warp pipe lookalike planters. The criticism by the town population from West Midlands County indicated confusion over wasting tax money over such structures.

The interesting fact is that the reason behind the backlash could be as the town was asked to cut roughly $41million from it’s budget.

The town folk were certainly not amazed to see the planters, describing them as “eyesores” and “garish monstrosities”.

On the other hand, what most fans would want is the return of their Italian plumber on the big screen. Nintendo has partnered with Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment to release an animated Super Mario film by 2022.

But as far as the citizens of Walsall are concerned, their “eyesore” has also been a pocket sore for the town’s already tight budget. Gamers would certainly be amused to see them, but it didn’t appear that there were any present in the English town.
