Blackspace: Netflix Takes Israeli School Shooting Series

Blackspace Updates: We have some good news for thriller series’ fans. Netflix has recently acquired Blackspace, an Israeli series about a massacre committed at a high school.

The show starts off with an ordinary day at a an Israeli high school that soon takes a turn for the worse when several unicorn mask wearing figures open fire at the students, leaving four of them dead.

The aftermath is pure chaos. With the school surrounded by police cars and ambulances and terrified parents worried for their children, the show sends shivers down one’s spine.

The psychological thriller follows detective Rami Davidi as he tries to piece together evidences and nab the culprits of the horrific massacre. He believes that it could have been an inside job and investigates the app Blackspace, which the students use to communicate with each other.

The show also focuses on how the students cope with loss and trauma after the incident.

The eight episode series is written by Anat Gafni and Sahar Shavit and directed by Ofir Lobel who is known for his work on What Could Happen? And Domino.

The series, produced by Chaim Sharir and Mosh Danon of Israel’s Drama Team along with Pascal Breton and Lionel Uzan of Federation Entertainment, was premiered on Israeli channel Reshet 13. And with its huge popularity in the country, it has already been renewed for a second season.

Federation has, in addition to Netflix, also sold the TV show to RTL in Germany, NPO in Netherlands and another company in Latin America.

The show features Guri Alfi as detective Rami Davidi, Shai Avivi as Hanoch Taver, Assi Levy as Noga Ruso among others.

Blackspace will premiere on Netflix on the 27th of May, 2021. The preview for the first season can be watched on the streaming website.
