Chicago PD Season 8 Episode 9 Updates: Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick Flueger) were charged with taking in an officer who fired a Black man on the streets in this week’s episode of ‘Chicago PD,’ which moved the show in a different direction.
When a second video goes viral, what was intended to be a straightforward “Uber” trip, as Voight refers to it, becomes risky. At one of the Chicago Police Department’s safe houses, Ruzek and Atwater would wait for the white policeman, officer Wheelan.
However, the safe house is soon targeted by two armed gunmen who claim to be after Wheelan, leading to rumors that it was an inside job as Atwater and Ruzek take Wheelan off the books.
Tensions escalate as the show progresses, not only within the police force but also between Ruzek and Atwater, who have opposing reactions to the shooting.

So far, the ‘Chicago PD’ has failed to impress when it comes to dealing with police brutality. The Dick Wolf show, on the other hand, made a significant and complex shift this week by showing both Ruzek and Atwater’s views on the shooting.
It was convenient for Ruzek to brush off what had happened as something that had nothing to do with him. But it was personal for Atwater, who has always felt like he is competing for himself as the only Black officer on the Intelligence Unit.
The episode was notable in that, although Ruzek distanced himself from Officer Wheelan, Atwater tried to challenge him, despite Wheelan’s insistence that he was not racist.
Through showing him the second recording, Atwater aided Wheelan in seeing what he saw from a different perspective — which also prompted the officer to believe the video had been tampered with rather than admit that he, too, had a bias and that his shot had been misjudged.
Meanwhile, Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and Deputy Superintendent Samantha Miller (Nicole Ari Parker) continue to support Ruzek and Atwater for the time being. Miller stresses reciprocal confidence several times during their talks, and although it seems that they are getting along well, something might go wrong quickly.
Since ‘Chicago PD’ will be back for a bit, the season’s ninth episode will most likely air next Wednesday, March 17, at 10/9c.
Chicago PD Season 8 Episode 9 The PlotOne Chicago Center
When a small business owner is gunned down in his store, it becomes personal for Atwater, who patrolled the area as a young policeman, according to the official synopsis for the next episode.
Samantha Miller, the deputy superintendent, comes to Voight with a special request for Andre Cooper. So far, Atwater has had a difficult season. It’s not easy for a Black cop, and Atwater is the show’s saving grace.
In the next episode, we’d like to see how his story progresses, but most specifically, we’d like to see more connections between him and the other officers on the Intelligence Team. We don’t know what Miller’s special request is for Andre Cooper, a new character, but Voight can only take so much when it comes to Miller’s orders.
