WandaVision Theories: Jammed in the MCU’s Own Truman Show

WandaVision Updates: WandaVision not only pay tribute to certain sitcoms, but it’s particularity feels close enough to The Truman Show.

Warning: This article contains crucial information about Wanda-Vision series episodes.

As it was very clear, the series’s first two episodes recreate classic sitcoms story line for instance, inviting boss over dinner and enacting in the talent show to secure the place in the viewers heart.

Meanwhile the series providing hints that something isn’t right, from the voice looking for Wanda on the radio to the beekeeper brewing from the sewers.

While much still remains a mystery, unresolved occurrences demonstrates where the show is headed, and the film The Truman Show might be connected and may clear the doubts of the audiences.

The Truman Show is a 1998 American  film directed by Peter Weir which star Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank, a man who grew up living a mundane life in suburbans of The Andy Griffith Show and Leave It to Beaver.

Following the first set-up viewers shortly realized  that Truman’s life is indeed the root of a 24/7 television show produced by Ed Harris’ Christof, making his entire town detailed set and and all his loved ones paid actors.

Irrespective of Truman not being smart and having grown up in the town since birth, slowly and steadily he realize the truth, which lead him to escape into the real world.

The comparison between the film and the series is noticeable as the end of the first episode makes it very clear that someone is watching the married couple on screen, just like Christof watches Truman from his control room.

There are also hints that the other natives may also be disguised or are paid actors, much like Truman was surrounded by cast and crew members acting as natives.

WandaVision: S.W.O.R.D

Apart from this, Teyonah Parris (played by Monica Rambeau) has already implied something is faulty by introducing herself as Geraldine, and trailers of the series stated that Kathryn Hahn’s Agnes is aware that Vision died in Avengers: Infinity War.

If these assumptions are true the query reside is Why construct a fake world? As for the Truman fake reality was a medium to control a person’s life and trigger a reaction to increase television ratings and advertising income.

Although one symbol that has been displayed on both the beekeeper and the colorful toy helicopter may indicate, to the logo of S.W.O.R.D., similar to S.H.I.E.L.D. Besides, one commercial exhibited Strucker watches, likely referring to Wolfgang von Strucker, the Hydra scientist liable for providing Wanda and her brother Pietro their powers.

Possibly the artificial reality was built for the benefit to bunch of convicts who have invade S.W.O.R.D., not like Hydra invaded  S.H.I.E.L.D. in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

In that case, Wanda and Vision slowly unfold the wool that has been halted over their eyes, they may face many difficulties in their attempts to escape, as shown in Truman’s show. In future episodes, it will be fascinating to watch if there are more parallels to the film and series.
