Midnight at the Pera Palace: Netflix Commissions Major New International Drama Sereis

Midnight at the Pera Palace Updates: Netflix Karga Seven Pictures Turkey, the Turkish production outfit of the award-winning LA-based production group Karga Seven Pictures, a RED ARROW Studios company, created the original drama series called Midnight at the Pera Palace.

The development has begun at several locations in Turkey for the eight-episode Turkish language series. A young journalist named Esra reflects on Midnight at the Pera Palace and her experience with the famous Pera Palace Hotel in Istanbul.

When Esra is assigned to write a piece about the hotel, she mistakenly learns that a door to the year 1919 is one of the historic rooms.

She lands in the wake of a revolutionary plot against the father of modern Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, forced into the past. Esra must defend, along with Ahmet, the eccentric hotel manager, the path of history and the future of Turkey.

Yet Istanbul was a risky location in 1919. Esra must learn to negotiate her current world to stay alive, from the enemy occupation forces under the command of a brutal general to the local police struggling to contain gangs ready to do anything for easy cash.

In 2017, Karga Seven Pictures launched their Turkish outfit, and the latest projects include the rise of Empires: Ottoman from last year’s Netflix Original film, which has proven a major success in Turkey and around the world.

For all major networks, including new commissions for NatGeo, bin Laden’s Hard Drive Believers buried Worlds with Don Wildman and Mission Declassified for Travel Channel, and Unexplained and Unexplored for Discovery and Science Channel, the US division of Karga Seven Pictures creates a variety of scripted and unscripted programs.

We believe Turkey is one of the big artistic centers for great storytelling, and we look forward to sharing with our members around the world this great story from the magical city of Istanbul.
