Chicago Fire Season 9: Matthew Casey Character Preview

Chicago Fire Season 9 Update: With the 9th season of the American drama series ‘Chicago Fire’ coming up in a short while which is just a few weeks away, fans do need a quick brush-up of where their favorite characters landed in the previous season or without which huge facts will the upcoming season not make complete sense.

Here we are to help you look at the 9th season exactly like you should and also, look ahead to the new episodes coming up keeping in mind the preview of your favorite characters for the new season.
Let’s talk about Matthew Casey, played by Jesse Spencer in Chicago Fire.

Chicago Fire Season 9: Where have the previous seasons left him?

We saw Casey turn out to be the secondary character on his own show in the previous season as he got his much-deserved break after the seventh season full of emotional and physical breakdowns.
More than his own, Casey was seen playing support in Sylvie Brett’s (played by Kara Killmer) storyline.

After all the drama going on with her and her birth mother, she did need someone like Casey on her side to be her support pillar during those emotionally challenging times.

Though we really admired their friendship, we also didn’t forget that Casey missed his complete crossover with Chicago PD because he was driving his “not so great for the screen time” friend Sylvie to her mother’s house.

We saw our hopes again leading nowhere to see Casey and Brett as a couple. Despite some really “awww” moments that they shared, no-one really made a move and we are stuck on the hope line as same as two seasons ago.

The reason is obvious, the one night stand with his now ex-wife and none other than Brett’s best friend Gabriela Dawson (played by Monica Raymund). The show revealed that she had made up a reason to come back to Chicago and meet Casey again.

Not very surprising, Casey’s personal life was what this season revolved around though he really doesn’t have much of an idea what he truly emotionally wants. Thankfully, his residence is still standing “not burnt down” unlike the previous seasons of the show.
