During a one-on-one meeting with Arnold Schwarzenegger to advance the 2020 Austrian World Summit, Cameron affirms that Avatar 3 has nearly completed the process of shooting. Cameron clarified that as around four and a half long months of production was lost due to COVID, Avatar 2 has been pushed back to a December 2022 coming date, yet that Avatar 3 will come up directly behind it. “The day we give Avatar 2, we will begin working on finishing the Avatar 3,” said Cameron. “So where we are as of now, I’m in New Zealand filming. We’re shooting the rest of the live-action. We have around 10% left to go. We’re a hundred percent complete on Avatar 2, and we’re kind of 95 percent complete on Avatar 3.”

Cameron also said it to Schwarzenegger that because New Zealand is one of the top nations for its COVID treatment, he doesn’t expect there to be any additional delays in getting the two films wrapped up. In spite of the fact that Cameron offered updates on the shooting plans for the two movies, he wouldn’t surrender further details about the plot, saying that he trusts in the mystery encompassing them.
