Pluto Ending Explained: Did Atom Save Humanity from Destruction?

The more we watch the show, the more we know how complicated the situation is! Pluto features a well-known robot detective called Gesicht, who Europol assigns to investigate a mysterious series of murders in which all victims are famous robots worldwide.

While the length and complexities of the presentation may turn away those who aren’t fans of the anime genre, Pluto is worth a look at the very least.

Pluto: What Did Gesicht Recall Seeing In His Memories?

We see Gesicht having visions related to something that bothers him even in his sleep from the first episode. The further the anime goes, the clearer his memories of an older man holding out his palm and asking for money to be exchanged for something Gesicht wants.

In the last episode, we learned that Gesicht discovered a small robot on duty among a pile of broken machines. Gesicht recalls seeing the man tasked with clearing the machine parts.

When Gesicht expresses his interest in taking that small robot with him, he is the one who asks for money. Soon enough, Gesicht and his wife treat the robot like a child, even naming it Robita.

Their happiness is short-lived, however, as Adolf Hass’s brother kills Robita. Gesicht, blinded by rage, murders the murderer of his child, which Europol firmly tries to cover up.

Who was Professor Abullah?

The most shocking aspect of the series is Professor Abullah’s past. The professor who appears in the anime is not Abullah but a carbon copy of him. Abullah was the Persian leader of science who desired to turn Persia’s desolate lands into beautiful fields.

But that did not happen because the 39th Central Asian War demolished his country and killed his family.

Unfortunately, he died in one of those bombings, leaving a piece of his memory and anger for his enemies in a chip. Atom’s creator, Dr. Tenma, inserted the chip into an AI he and Abullah established as the perfect AI.

It was supposed to have worked differently than before because it included the personalities of 6 billion people.

However, the opposing qualities of hatred and despair from Abullah’s memories developed into a second version of Abullah and led to a new personality known as Goji.

Did Atom Save Humanity from Destruction?

Professor Abullah unleashes the Bora robot during Pluto’s ending to carry out his ultimate plan—the demise of the United States of Thracia. Bora is equipped with an antiproton bomb, released beneath the earth’s surface directly beneath Thracia, where an inactive volcano will be triggered, destroying the country and the entire world.

Atom is now in charge of preventing this disaster and saving the world. Despite Professor Tenma’s belief that Bora and Pluto can’t be defeated, Atom’s caretaker, Professor Ochanomizu, has complete faith in the robot boy.

Atom must first defeat Pluto, who is trying to keep the boy from going into the depths of the earth, where Bora is about to arrive. Atom uses all of his powers and has the opportunity to kill Pluto.

Still, he recalls the lessons of the other six super-robots, who were all convinced that anger and hatred would only lead to more violence and enmity. As a result, the boy now allows Pluto to open up, and Sahad’s soul speaks up, pleading for Atom’s help. The two quickly become friends, and this bond is ultimately put to use.

When Atom enters the earth’s crevice and begins fighting Bora, it is clear that the massive robot will overpower the boy. Pluto takes in all of Atom’s strengths, protects the boy, and then clashes with Bora, causing a fatal explosion that ends him but saves humanity.

During this time, Brau 1859, the imprisoned robot who was the first to kill humans, kills the evil Dr. Roosevelt.

This completely negates President Alexander’s and the nation of Thracia’s powers. Pluto ends with an image in which Atom recalls all the super-robots who died fighting to save the world.
