Berlin Everything You Need to Know!

If you love the legendary heist-drama series on Netflix ‘Money Heist’ aka ‘Le Casa De Papel’ – we can bet that you absolutely adored Berlin’s character, played by actor Pedro Alonso.

We don’t blame you – Berlin aka  Andres de Fonollosa was probably one of the greatest characters written in Money Heist, after Sergio Marquina (aka The Professor).

With the tremendous success of the Spanish heist crime drama (to the point where it got its South Korean remake in WIP condition!) Netflix has announced a spinoff series titled ‘Berlin-based and centering on the titular character. The teaser was released at a Netflix event in Brazil recently.

What Is Berlin About?

Berlin’s character has always been intriguing, vague, and even beautiful. His unexplained death in the primary season, his history explored in the fifth season and his relationship with The Professor has always been a mystery.

Although part of his legacy and history was explored in the fifth season, there is still a big question mark about him as a person – rather than as a character or one of the masterminds behind the heists.

Fans across the globe are expecting a lot from the series – expecting the creators to delve deeper into Berlin’s life in terms of his five ex-wives, and the type of relationship he shared with Sergio.

As a fan myself, we want more about Berlin – for instance, his father, his childhood, his other relationships, and more!

All About Berlin’s Character

Berlin
Digital Spy

As a character, Berlin has been described as ‘cold, hypnotic, sophisticated, and disturbing – whilst also being a white-collar thief with serious empathy issues who despises his colleagues and considers them inferior.

Also called a misogynistic snob with a hint of sadism, Berlin ultimately shows a more humane side when he sacrifices himself in the final minutes of Season 2 so that the gang can escape under police fire.

Despite his death and apparent disappearance, Berlin remains an important character returning in the form of flashbacks to when he originally planned the Bank of Spain heist.

Berlin is said to be proficient in other languages apart from Spanish such as English, Italian, and Portuguese.
