Shakira Surfs Crowd at MTV VMAs 2023 Performance.

At the 2023 MTV VMAs, Shakira crowd surfs as she accepts the Video Vanguard Award. Before receiving the award, the Colombian superstar Shakira gave a performance during the ceremony, singing a lengthy medley of some of her most popular songs in both English and Spanish.

The 46-year-old Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira became the first South American artist to receive the 2023 Video Vanguard Award when she accepted it at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday.

Shakira felt upset after receiving the award from Wyclef Jean and spoke in both English and Spanish about her career. Milan, age 9, and Sasha, age 7, are the children of Shakira and her ex-partner, Gerard Piqué. Shakira praised her children for accompanying her on the red carpet on her big night.

The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer performed an upbeat medley of her biggest hits, including “She Wolf” and “Whenever, Wherever,” on the VMAs stage for the first time in 17 years before accepting her trophy.

She did this while singing, dancing, crowd-surfing, wearing various outfits, and even, at one point, brandishing a pair of knives!

Even some of the singer’s admirers joined her on stage as she sang one of the songs that became popular earlier this year when she broke up with Piqué.

Shakira’s night may not end with only the Vanguard Award. This year, she is up for four Moon People: Artist of the Year, Top Collaboration, and two Best Latin Video categories.
