When Bonnie Wright was barely nine years old, she made her film debut as Ginny Weasley in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Before Chris Columbus, the filmmaker insisted she wasn’t even meant to have any lines.

J.K. Rowling was still working on the books at the time, so Wright was unaware that her character would eventually play a more significant part and get engaged to Harry Potter.

While it’s possible that the Harry Potter films had the forethought to fully develop Ginny Weasley, the Harry Potter TV series could give the character more depth. There will be plenty of screen time for everyone involved, including Ginny, as each show season will be devoted to a single novel.

A skilled witch who did not back down from anything, Ginny Weasley had a significant role in several of the later volumes in the series. She generally hung out in the background until The Half-Blood Prince; thus, very little was shown in the movie series.

While the movie provided some insight into her relationship with Harry, it omitted to discuss their challenges, such as breaking up with Ginny after Dumbledore’s murder out of concern that she may be caught in the crossfire.
