Sylvester Stallone Documentary SLY Official Trailer Released.

Sly, a new documentary on Sylvester Stallone that will be released in November, recently got an official teaser from Netflix.

A new Netflix documentary will recount the life of one of cinema’s most renowned action actors. Sylvester Stallone, best known for his roles as Rocky Balboa and Rambo, is the focus of a new Netflix documentary titled “Sly.”

Stallone will be highly involved, telling his story in his unique style. At least, that’s what the documentary’s small teaser trailer appears to be selling.

Netflix didn’t reveal much about the movie when it was announced, merely its title and a brief teaser showing the filmmaker meditating on his life. But this will be a look at Stallone’s life and career, as seen by the guy himself.

In the teaser, Stallone discusses the sacrifices, worries, and uncertainties that come with growing into filmmaking and admits to having professional regrets, asking, “Do I have regrets?”Sure, I have regrets.”

In the teaser, he also states, “What is healthier – to live under the notion that you could have been great? Or do you have a chance to be great and then blow it, realizing you’re a failure?”

Again, this is simply a teaser to inform us that the documentary is on its way, but Stallone provides some fascinating insights. The man has some regrets in his life, which he begins with.

The actor/writer/director also says that his movie success has taken a toll over the years. Thom Zimny (“Springsteen on Broadway,” “The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town”) is the director, while Sean Stuart is the producer.

Sly has worked significantly behind and in front of the camera throughout the years, changing his profession as he’s become older and more experienced.

The film will focus on how the Academy Awards winner got to where he is now, connecting his real-life underdog narrative to his most iconic characters, which fans have grown to love.

Netflix additionally released a synopsis for the documentary, which reads:

Sylvester Stallone has amused millions with legendary characters and blockbuster franchises ranging from Rocky to Rambo to The Expendables for nearly 50 years.

This retrospective documentary provides an inside look at the Oscar-nominated actor-writer-director-producer, paralleling his inspiring underdog narrative with the unforgettable characters he has brought to life.

The timing of the announcement is perfect. Netflix has had a lot of achievements with “Arnold,” a three-part documentary series that examined Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s life. Schwarzenegger was a relatively open book in the series, which added to the viewer’s curiosity.

One only has hope that Stallone will be as candid. One thing that was not apparent in the announcement is whether this would be done as a series like “Arnold” or a movie. In any case, it’ll be here in a couple of months.
