The plot revolves around the new United States ambassador to the United Kingdom- Kate Wyler as she has to balance her newfound spotlight while defusing international crises, forging strategic alliances, and her struggle in marriage with Hal Wyler, a fellow career diplomat.

Keri Russell portrayed the role of Kate Wyler in The Diplomat with Rufus Sewell as her husband Hal. The series premiered on April 20, 2023, on Netflix.
