OLED is one of the biggest buzzwords in screen technology, and it’s natural to be skeptical of any new technology until it’s proven to work. Fortunately, our first impressions of the Asus Zenbook Pro 16X OLED were quickly shattered.
Aside from an exemplary display screen, this high-end creative laptop employs vital components and novel control ways, making it an ideal companion for creators, designers, and photographers.
Design of Asus Zenbook Pro 16X OLED
Besides the price, there’s no doubt the Zenbook’s display is stunning. OLED displays use individual, self-lit pixels to produce color and illumination, resulting in perfect black levels and contrast that standard LCD backlighting cannot match.
This is one of the most excellent screens available for picture and video editing and design work – only genuine desktop monitors provide better quality. Moreover, the Zenbook’s screen outperforms its OLED technology.
The only minor drawback is the maximum brightness level of 366 nits. That’s adequate for indoor use but not outdoor performance, where the MacBook Pro excels. Additionally, because the panel is glossy, light reflections might be problematic.
Price and Availability
If you have the money, you may purchase the Asus Zenbook Pro 16X OLED 2022. This laptop is expensive, starting at $2,599 for a US-only variant with an Intel Core i7-12700H.
To replace the i7 with an Intel Core i9-12900H, double the RAM and twice the storage, the price rises to $2999. Unfortunately, the more costly variant appears to be the only one in the UK.
The ZenBook Pro 16X OLED from ASUS comes with an Intel i9 12900H CPU from the 12th generation. Therefore, you can assume that the laptop excels at any CPU-related work.
Thermally, the noise profile of the fans usually is relatively low. However, you may increase the speeds through the MyAsus app for more outstanding performance. There are also two IceBlades fans with 3D curved blades that effectively disperse heat.
Regarding audio, the ZenBook Pro 16X sports a six-speaker system with two tweeters and four woofers. I’ve never heard better audio from a laptop, whether a Windows computer or a MacBook Pro.
The sound quality is excellent, with a deep bass resonating beneath and a wide soundstage. The audio never crackles when viewing a movie at maximum volume and offers crystal clear sound.

The ZenBook Pro 16X’s battery has a 96Whr cell, which is rather large for any laptop. During my usage, which included significant OTT content viewing, the battery died after around 7 hours of screen-on time, which is adequate, especially given the technology onboard.
The charger included with the box can charge the laptop at 200W, and it takes around 2 hours to charge the battery fully.
Asus’ laptop company has never been hesitant to try new things, and its innovations on this machine typically work well. The OLED display is one of the nicest on a notebook, the tilted keyboard is terrific, and the Asus Dial is a welcome feature if you use Adobe.
The Zenbook boasts much processing power, fantastic speakers, vital networking, and impressive cooling, but it has a large, thick chassis and a dismal battery life.
On the other hand, the OLED display is unrivaled in terms of creative quality. The Zenbook then complements its screen with excellent performance and a stylish design. Any genuine creator should consider this powerhouse.
