Lady Gaga will reprise Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix in the upcoming Joker sequel, Joker: Folie a Deux. And Margot Robbie has nothing but praise for this concept.
Margot Robbie has spoken out about Lady Gaga’s portrayal of Harley Quinn in Joker 2. The Birds of Prey actor is apparently thrilled that Lady Gaga will play Harley Quinn in the forthcoming Joker sequel, officially titled Joker: Folie a Deux.
According to Variety, Joaquin Phoenix, who won an Oscar for playing the Joker, will co-star alongside Lady Gaga in the first Joker film. Despite reports that Gaga is playing Harley Quinn, Warner Bros. and Gaga have not officially confirmed what role she is portraying. Robbie played Harley in the original live-action rendition of Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, and The Suicide Squad.

Following news that Lady Gaga would play Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix in The Joker 2, Robbie couldn’t keep his poker face. “It makes me very pleased,” she remarked on Oct. 6, “because I stated from the beginning that all I want is for Harley Quinn to be like MacBeth or Batman, a figure that everyone loves and a character that gets passed from great actor to great actor.”
It’s an idea she doesn’t come across very frequently.
“It’s such an honor to have developed a strong enough foundation that Harley can now be one of those characters that other actors try out for,” she remarked. “I think she’ll achieve amazing things with it.”
According to Variety, returning star Zazie Beetz will be joined by newcomers Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, and Jacob Lofland in Joker: Folie a Deux. They will all appear alongside Gaga and Phoenix.
Meanwhile, Robbie will play another legendary part in 2023’s Barbie film, co-starring Ryan Gosling. Barbie and Ken will be brought to life by the duo, replete with completely tubular neon-colored clothes.
Joker: Folie a Deux, a Warner Bros. production, will release on October 4, 2024. Barbie is also set to visit theatres in July 2023.
