Crush Responds to the Accusations of Racism.

Crush is the stage name of South Korean R&B and hip-hop singer, songwriter, and producer Shin Hyo-seob. In his jazz-influenced style of music, Crush frequently incorporates contemporary songs. He made his debut on April 1st, 2014, with the song “Sometimes,” then on June 5th, 2014, his debut album Crush on You was made available.
Crush gave a performance on October 9 at Yonsei University’s “2022 SOMEDAY PLEROMA” festival. Crush offered fans high-fives as he moved across the audience while performing “Don’t Forget.”
Crush, though, skipped on giving a few fans high fives in one part and continued the performance. Since then, on social media, videos of this exchange were shared, and viewers accused Crush of being racist for selectively ignoring people with darker skin tones. People have been accusing Crush of being racist since he did not give high five to the fans of dark color.

In response to the allegations that Crush has been receiving from social media, he uploaded a statement of apology on his Instagram account.
“Hello everyone. I
just wanted to talk about the issue that has been revolving around the audience interaction from my performance last night at the “2022 SOMEDAY PLEROMA” festival.
After being absent for nearly two years, performing on stage in front of my most devoted admirers in the audience was such an incredible and long-awaited event that I naturally and intuitively stepped towards and stretched out to them.
To clear up any confusion, I would like to say that I had to stop giving high-fives to fans in certain sections out of concern for their safety. They were getting too close to the fences that supported the audience section, and I noticed that people in the front row were being pushed up against the fence, so for the safety of my fans, I quickly decided not to approach them.
I deeply apologize for any misinterpretation that may have resulted from my conduct. I adore every single one of my fans, and I would never show favoritism or discrimination.”
Crush is one of the most successful singers in the music industry of South Korea. Nine of Crush’s tracks, including “Just,” “Beautiful,” “Don’t Forget,” “Bittersweet,” and “Sleepness Night,” reached the top five on the Gaon Digital Chart. Thirteen of Crush’s singles reached their highest peak on the chart.
