Microsoft Surface Duo 2 Update: We have seen a wave of Microsoft devices for a few years. Some of the Surface devices are a lot great too. Microsoft Surface Duo 2 is the successor of Microsoft Surface Duo. It is a flippable tablet that can rotate up to 360°.
Design: The back of Microsoft Surface Duo is glass built and is protected by Gorilla Glass. The display is also protected with Gorilla Glass Victus. The device’s design is almost similar to the past Microsoft Surface Duo, but it has a new triple camera setup at the rear.
The hinges are improved too. The inner display has thick bezels though but is slimmer than the last generation of Microsoft Surface Duo.
Display: Microsoft Surface Duo 2 has dual flippable screens. The display size is 8.3 inches and has 1892 X 2688 pixels. It is an AMOLED panel, with a 90Hz Refresh Rate, and a peak brightness of 800 nits.
It is a protected Gorilla Glass Victus. The display has been a huge improvement since the last Surface Duo. The Refresh Rate of the display isn’t adaptive. The bezels are thick but thinner than the last Surface Duo.
Camera specifications: Microsoft Surface Duo 2 has a new triple camera setup, with a 12MP primary camera with 12 telephoto and a 16MP ultra-wide camera. The selfie camera has a 12MP resolution.
The Surface Duo 2 can shoot 4K 30/60 FPS videos and the front camera can shoot 1080p at 30FPS. Cameras have improved a lot on Microsoft Surface Duo 2 unlike the Microsoft Surface Duo, which had a webcam.
Specifications: Surface Duo 2 has Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G processor, with an Octa-Core CPU. The OS of Surface Duo 2 is Android 11 out of the box, but it is not optimized.
There are many bugs in the software, hope Microsoft could fix them in their software upgrade. The tablet comes with 3 options, 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM, 8GB RAM + 256GB ROM and 8GB RAM + 512GB ROM. There is no support for a MicroSD card slot.
Foldable experience: Surface Duo 2 has exposed durable hinges. The screen can fold 360°. The middle of the screen does have space.
The display isn’t completely flat. If you open an app in Microsoft Surface Duo 2, it can expand on both screens. But sometimes the text misses out while reading. There are many touch bugs too with this device.
Batter & Connectivity: The battery capacity of the Surface Duo 2 is 4449mAh and it can be fast-charged with a 23W charger. Microsoft Surface Duo 2 has all types of sensors, including a side-mounted fingerprint reader. It has Wi-Fi 6 support, along with Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC too.
All in all, Surface Duo 2 costs $1099(₹85420 INR) and had the Samsung Galaxy Fold series and Moto Razor folding phones, which are much better than the Microsoft Surface Duo 2. Although Microsoft tried to solve various bugs with this smartphone but could have improved a lot too.
