The Sound of Magic, fantasy series could be the next hit on the list for Netflix after Squid Game. The series is scheduled to air on May 22.

The Sound of Magic (Annarasumanara)

After a long wait, 2022 will be the year for the arrival of the most popular webtoon, Annarasumanara, The Sound of Magic live-action adaptation. The filming for the series is officially over, Netflix already released the date.

For anyone who doesn’t know, The Sound of Magic is an upcoming K-Drama series, it is a psychological South Korean Netflix Original.

JTBC Studios would be producing the series. In the past, we have seen many times the collaboration of JTBC Studios and Netflix. Netflix has given JTBC shows a platform exclusively internationally and a few globally too.
Good News!! Unlike the weekly kind of broadcast shows, Netflix will showcase all the episodes of The Sound of Magic all at once.

Netflix will air The Sound of Magic globally on Friday, May 6th, 2022.

Plot Review And Episode Count

Due to debt, Yoon Ah Yi’s parents abandoned her. She has no choice but to support herself and her younger sister. Although, despite having a tight schedule cause of her part-time job and studies. Yoon Ah Yi can still be one of the top students at the school. Additionally, she wishes for only one thing, to grow up as fast as possible. As then she can work a stable job. But, her life is soon to get changed as she reveals her dream to the magician Lee Eul.

The trailer for the series was released alongside the caption:

“ When a high school student, stumbles upon an abandoned amusement park. The student has been forced all her life to grow up too early. Seeing the amusement park she reignites her inner child. This incident will once again fill her life with the wonders of magic.”

Also, It has been officially confirmed that The Sound of Magic will have released in a total of 6 episodes.

Webtoon Turned Into Series Fan Base


Annarasumanara: The Sound of Magic is only eight chapters long, completely illustrated in black and white. Originally published in 2010, Annarasumanara ended its chapter release in the same year.  According to reports, the webtoon later got adapted into a play.

Webtoon synopsis for the popular series tells us:
“When Yun Ai was little, she dreamed of becoming a magician when she grew big. Although in reality, she’s just a high school student with a lot of financial problems. She finds it hard even to afford socks for herself. But things take a mysterious turn for her after meeting a mysterious magician at a carnival. Now, all her dreams will come true as she decides to follow them.”

Thanks to the webtoon for building a fan base before it got turned into the K-drama, The Sound of Magic. Fans have already found the link between them in the trailer. In addition, most K-dramas are based on written source material. A fan even took to Twitter to post a side-by-side comparison between Hwang In-your’s K-drama character and his webtoon version.
