Chris Pine Reveals “Acting Chose Him”

Chris Pine opened up about his career choice in life. Reveals that he didn’t choose acting as the field to go into. Regardless of Pine’s lack of passion of choice in the profession. The actor has excelled in his career.

In an interview with IndieWire, Chris Pine spoke about his career choice. He revealed that due to his family’s ties to the industry, acting jobs just found their way to him.

He said, “I never had a passion for acting.” Even admitting that “Acting was something that seemed to pop out of nowhere and then just took over my life. It seemed to be fated and it made a lot of sense.”

In addition to the fact that he felt thankful for having the “luxury of ‘yes’ and ‘no’ for 10 years or so really”. Reveals that when it comes to picking his film roles, he feels that, “I think there’s a clarity of purpose now that I have with my work and my life.”

Further adding, “It is very much more me [choosing] because I just have a lot of things I’ve sloughed off. I just know what I want. I know what I like. I know what will work for me.”

Experimenting Directing And Award

Chris Pine’s recently grabbed the Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards. His role as the down-on-his-luck bank robber in the Taylor Sheridan-written neo-Western Hell or High Water helped him to win.

Chris then spoke about his experience with experimenting with directing. He said that he “never had a desire to direct, really, truthfully” either, but “the idea for [my directional debut] Poolman started as this little pebble in a pond.”

He concluded, “I go where my interest in and my interest just so happens, in the past couple of years, to have been these smaller-ish films.”

Family Ties To Acting

Around the past decade, the actor regularly has been the face on big screen. He has been part of some major franchise-leading roles such as the titular character in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman and its sequel Wonder Woman 1984.

 

Also in 2009, as James T. Kirk, the captain of the famed star-ship the U.S.S. Enterprise, in J.J. Abrams Star Trek reboot. Formally he returned with his role in two sequels, Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Trek Beyond. In addition, Pine is scheduled to return Capt. Kirk is in a fourth film in the franchise with WandaVision creator Matt Shakman to direct.

Chris Pine’s father Robert Pine has a long career in television with roles in long-running Westerns such as The VirginianBonanza, and Gunsmoke. He gained his fame through the popular police series CHiPs as Sgt. Joseph Getraer. Also, his mother is Gwynne Gilford who is best known for her role in Masters of the Universe. In addition, his sister Katherine is also an actress.

Even Chri’s grandmother, Anne Gwynne, was an actress and pin-up girl. Making a secret cameo in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
