Ariana Grande and Ed Sheeran Discuss Married Life and Their First Meeting on ‘The Voice’

Ariana Grande Updates: Ariana Grande is loving her first season as a coach on The Voice, especially since her long-time pal Ed Sheeran is the Mega Mentor for season 21!

Ariana welcomed Ed to the show when the Knockouts premiered on Monday, and the two charmingly caught up on the important milestones they’ve both experienced in recent years.

“You’re now married!” Ed commented, congratulating Ari on her May wedding to Dalton Gomez in a private ceremony.

“I am!” says the speaker. Ari retorted. “As well as you”

“Yes, we have a child!” With a smile on his face, Ed stated. Last October, the GRAMMY winner and his wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed their first child, Lyra Antarctica.

Ed and Ariana first met in 2012, or “back when I had red hair,” as Ari put it.

He was just hanging out and playing music in my manager’s office. He’s a fantastic songwriter.”

Ed continued, “I’ve known Ariana for a long, long time.” “In the past, we’ve collaborated on songs and jammed together. I think it’ll be a good first season for her.”

Team Ariana performers Raquel Trinidad and Katie Rae joined the two in rehearsal, and while they commiserated about the difficult task ahead for the first-time coach as she makes her final cuts ahead of the live events, Ed praised Ari for being “like a proud mother” to her team.

In terms of his personal parenting experience, Ed and Katie, a stay-at-home mother of a 3-year-old son, talked about missing their children.

“I don’t know how on earth people do it,” he said, encouraging Katie to use the difficult emotions in her performance of Lauren Daigle’s “Hold On to Me.” “The sacrifice you’re making now will pay off dividends, just go for it,” he said, encouraging Katie to use the difficult emotions in her performance of Lauren Daigle’s “Hold On to Me.”

“Let out what you’re feeling and blast the roof off at the end,” Ari agreed.

Katie’s emotional rendition wowed the coaches, proving that the guidance paid off. Raquel’s joyful performance of The Zutons’ “Valerie” won Ari the Knockout, and she chose the Tampa, Florida, native to advance to the live stages.

Kelly stated, “I’ve wanted Katie Rae since the blinds, y’all.” “I don’t think I have someone on my team who is like her.”

Ari has enjoyed her debut season on The Voice so far, according to a source who spoke to ET last week.

“She’s looked up to the coaches for a long time,” the insider said, “and she and Kelly have really built a good bond.” “Ariana appreciates that this allows people to see her abilities beyond singing — she’s a writer and producer, as well as a music expert. [She] is also having a good time and enjoys teasing the instructors.”
