Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 Episode 7: ‘Back to the Finale II’ Recap & Spoilers

Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 Episode 7 Updates: WARNING: This includes spoilers for the 6th DC Legends of Tomorrow season, episode 7, ‘Back to the Finale II,’ shown on The CW on Sunday.

After learning of their captain’s alleged death, Sara Lance, the Legends of Tomorrow travel back in time to try to prevent her kidnapping in the first place. Elsewhere, Sara struggles with the realization that she is now a clone and must fight her way through Bishop’s planet to return home.

Sara stands in shock as her original corpse lies dead in front of her in the opening scene of the episode. Bishop was unable to heal Sara when she was assaulted by Amelia Earhart since there is no treatment for a Zageron bite. In reality, the “cure” he gave her was a collection of nanobots that took a copy of her mind and body in order to begin the cloning process. While Sara is appalled by this news, Bishop adds that it is merely the beginning.

Back aboard the Waverider, Ava listens to the Bowie Tape on repeat, hearing Sara reiterate over and over that she is going to propose to her. The remainder of the Legends gathers around the kitchen table, unsure what to do with their lives now that Sara is “gone.”

Nate assumes command of the situation as the Waverider’s interim captain and discovers that Behrad is not present at the table. When Nate and Zari go looking for him, all they discover is a whiteboard with the words “Back to the Future II” circled on it, revealing Behrad’s plot.

Back in Bishop’s world, Mick and Kayla complete their night of love and prepare to go. However, Mick is still determined to save Sara, so Kayla offers him until the third moon sets to find her or else she would abandon him.

Mick begins his quest and encounters a new squadron of Ava Troopers. But, just as he is about to set fire to them, one of the troopers stops him and exposes himself to be Gary. Back inside, Ava Troopers rush in and seize Sara as Bishop picks up one of their weapons and kills himself, allowing a new body to take over.

Bishop then describes his grand plan and the difficulties he’s had carrying it out: His plan to combine human and extraterrestrial DNA failed because it required the mental fortitude that his first victim, Amelia Earhart, lacked. However, while investigating, he came across Rebecca Silver’s writings and found inspiration in the stories of Sara.

His new plan will exploit Sara’s DNA to build a galaxy-colonized military of alien Saras. Sara obviously has no one and is prepared to go, yet her commitment ring isn’t taken off her body before she takes her. But Sara is holding her ground, proclaiming that though she is a clone she has not quit loving Ava.

Bishop is trying to stop her, claiming that the ring is a reminder of her previous existence. Then Bishop lets the soldiers take Sara away, persuaded he may tamper with her DNA until a clone is ready to collaborate.

The Legends return to the Season 5 finale “Swan Thong,” where they see Behrad outside of The Hole. Behrad tries to beat them off when they refuse to let him in, but the team assures him that they are there to assist him in carrying out his plan properly.

They set up camp across the street in an Indian restaurant and begin strategizing how to avoid Sara’s kidnapping. They consider pulling a fire alarm at first, but Astra informs them that The Hole does not have one. They then try to devise out how to notify Sara without encountering their former selves.

Unfortunately, everyone else was drinking excessively that night, with the exception of Behrad, who walked to the roof to smoke around midnight, providing him an easy in. Behrad walks to the bar and runs into Sara outside, who has emerged via a time portal. He attempts to tell her about a time-quake she needs to repair, but she dismisses him, believing whatever it is can wait. Sara then informs Behrad that she intends to propose to Ava using her mother’s ring and that nothing will stand in her way.

Sara fights off the guards who are keeping her on Bishop’s planet and runs into Mick and Gary in Bishop’s clone chamber. Mick attempts to persuade Sara to go, but she refuses, stating that she wants to shut down Bishop and his organization.

The clones agree to assist them since they want to be free of the cruel boss. They notify the crew that there are generators scattered across the region that, if exploded, might derail Bishop’s preparations. Sara cuts her palm while removing a panel, and the flesh regenerates instantly, shocking her enough to return inside and demand an answer from Bishop.

She storms into his office and injects him with something that paralyzes his body, allowing her to speak. She insists that he transform her back into a human, although she applauds her new powers and the notion of an alien Sara army. Sara knows her only option at this point is to make a complete human clone.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 Episode 7: John & Zari

Meanwhile, in the past, the team discovers they can avert the kidnapping by having Sara propose before the night is through. Zari and John explain their brief departure from the scene, which allows them to interact with the past. Sara is seen vomiting up in the restroom, worried about her proposal plans.

John persuades her that she must do it, but she is perplexed as to why he is behaving in this manner and believes him to be Charlie in disguise. Sara pushed John aside, explaining that she needed more time to settle herself before walking away. Zari saw John’s actions as well, and she immediately deduced that he is magic-less and is utilizing the plan to reclaim his skills.

Zari starts berating John and insists on no more falsehoods between them, to which he complies. As they leave, their former selves exit a chamber, alerting Ava to something unusual going on. As John and Zari reassemble, Ava arrives and instructs everyone to return to their timeline before scooping up all of their beverages.

Behrad, still desperate to save Sara, devises a scheme to stuff a mannequin with a fireworks explosion and trick Kayla into taking it instead. Spooner takes the lead and attempts to ensure Sara stays inside the bar with one last strategy and one more opportunity. Sara comes over to the bar and strikes up a conversation with Spooner, sensing something troubling her.

Sara expresses her concern about proposing to Ava and how she is unclear whether this version of herself is a phase after a lengthy chat. Spooner consoles her friend, and Sara goes confidently away, only to run into David Bowie, ensuring the birth of the Bowie Tape.

Across the street, the team begins to recognize the flaw in their plans when an alternate timeline Nate runs in and informs them that the plan would fail and worsen the situation. Unwilling to let time pass, Behrad rushes out to save Sara one final time. As the Legends exit The Hole, he hides behind garbage, capturing Sara’s attention while also keeping her still, giving Kayla a better opportunity of abducting her. Behrad then blames himself for Sara’s kidnapping, but Astra helps him see that some things are unchangeable.

Sara is caught up in the rescue effort in the present when she learns their intention and tries to speed up the cloning process with the aid of an Ava Nurse. Bishop, on the other hand, begins to upload himself to the cloud and gives Sara an ultimatum: obtain a human clone or cease his scheme.

She does the right thing by allowing Gary to blow up the generators while she flees the facility. With the third moon in place, the party must get to Kayla’s spacecraft while battling Zagerons. Unfortunately, Kayla was killed in the attack, and the crew was forced to go without her, much to Mick’s chagrin.

Back aboard the Waverider, the Bowie Tape goes contaminated, which enrages Ava until Sara steps in. Ava is afraid to turn back, fearful that Sara will vanish when she does, but Sara assures her that she will never leave again. The group then goes out for drinks, and during the celebration, Sara gets down on one knee and officially proposes to Ava, giving them the happily ever after they deserve.
