Will Shameless Season 12 Ever Happen? Click to Know

Shameless Season 12 Updates: With its season 11 ending, “Father Frank, Full of Grace,” Shameless has come to an end after more than a decade of Gallagher family drama on Chicago’s South Side – so is there any possibility for a Shameless season 12, or even a prequel trilogy.

Shameless premiered on Showtime in 2011 and is now starring most of the main cast members. It is centered on the UK comedy-drama show of the identical title Fiona Gallagher, played by Emmy Rossum, who is the oldest of Frank Gallagher’s children and the de facto mom of her younger brothers.

She departed Chicago at the conclusion of Shameless season 9, and the show was canceled in January 2020.

Despite the possibility of a Shameless return or remake in the future, there are currently no plans for season 12 of Shameless. Last year, show creator John Wells told The Hollywood Reporter that he was “a little sad but not extremely angry,” and that the show would end as “Showtime thought the timing was perfect for the series finale, and I’m glad to go along with that.”

He’s also ruled out the idea of a spinoff based on just one or two of the Gallagher brothers, or on Kevin and Veronica, the Gallagher siblings’ neighbors. “I’ve never been a huge fan of spinoffs,” he told THR prior to the show’s termination, and in a previous interview, he was adamant regarding his desire to create a satisfactory finale:

All About Shameless Season 12

Screen Rant

Season 11 of Shameless has been completed winding up the storylines of the main characters and setting them off in various paths.  In pursuit of a better life, Kev and V decided to leave Chicago and relocate to Louisville, Kentucky.

Additionally, Lip persuaded (most of) his siblings to sell the Gallagher estate and use the proceeds to purchase their own houses. The Gallaghers have lately started forming their own families and are almost able to set out on their own, having grown up in a single close-knit family unit.

The coronavirus pandemic was also used in the final season of Shameless, which culminated in Frank Gallagher’s death in the series finale. Frank died after contracting COVID-19 by wearing a discarded mask after being diagnosed with drunken dementia and surviving a huge overdose that was supposed to be his suicide.

Having left his children to largely manage themselves, William H. Macy’s awful and charming family patriarch was arguably the series’ heart, and Frank’s death is an apt means of reminding viewers that Shameless is truly over.
