Yuri On Ice Season 2 Updates: I hope they all have a nice day with their families and friends around them. The holidays are the perfect time for some very interesting shows and films to binge-watch.

Today, as a matter of fact, I know most of my viewers really love anime. This is the reason why I took Yuri On Ice to you today. Among the young masses and even a lot of adults, Yuri On Ice is one of the most-watched and loved anime. I have even been obsessed with it. Jump in to find out more about this amazing anime movie!

Yuri On Ice, along with a lot of romance, rivalry, and drama, has quite a lot of charming characters!

A short perspective on Yuri On Ice

Yuri On Ice is a figure skating-based Japanese sports anime created by MAPPA and directed by Sayo Yamamoto. The series first aired on television on October 6, 2016, and has a total of 12 episodes.

It soon became one of my favorites as a big sports anime fan. I used to drool all the way over it! Its vibrant portrayal of figure skating’s technical features is combined with such smooth animation that the inherent elegance of the series will certainly be recognized by those viewing it.

From the proper depiction of tactics to the costumes worn by each athlete, the attention to detail of all makes this a stunning and highly immersive experience.

Coupled with the delicious storyline, it is certainly on the waitlist of any passionate anime lover. Most of us have watched the series more than once, you might claim.

The plot is seen from the perspective of Yuuri Katsuki, the protagonist, a Japanese figure skater who has achieved national heights. His first Grand Prix try, though, gave him a humiliating setback, and Yuuri’s failure was very painful for him.

He returns to his homeland, where caring friends and relatives welcome him. He also finds himself quite burdened with his own feelings, though, which accidentally takes a toll on his health.

Yuri On Ice Season 2: the roles and the storyline

Yuuri’s idol, and at the height of his own career, was the Russian figure skating champion. He was known in the sport as a legend, having won multiple championships all over the world.

Though at first very reluctant, Yuuri is unable to refuse the charms of the foreigner and embraces Victor as his new mentor, choreographer, and companion.

We are also presented to another top Russian figure skater, Yuri Plisetsky, who has the same coach as Victor. Yuri P. is always furious and upset to see Victor devoting all his time to someone else instead of his junior, even younger in age and only beginning his chosen profession, and he takes out his frustration on Yuuri by continually provoking and attempting to one-up him.

Many episodes in the anime are focused on the tournaments in which Yuuri takes part, and melodious songs and mind-boggling choreography complement the stressful situation, not to mention the burgeoning relationship between Yuuri and Victor. The fact that they are both falling for each other is remembered in several scenes.

Victor also has a custom of merging his personal and professional thoughts. Fortunately, this is a positive thing because the shy and quiet attitude of Yuuri definitely would not have allowed him to even admit his feelings to himself.

Yuri and Victor are seen to have discreetly matched rings at the end of the first season. A suggestion of the fact that or at least as a recognition of their partnership, they have agreed to get married.

This nuanced and manageable approach to same-sex relationships is somewhat different from what is normally seen in Yaoi productions.

For this very reason, the anime has received a lot of praise and made it perfect for a large variety of audiences. Remember how I said a few phrases before, “the first season”?

You may be asking why, since only one season seemingly remains. Yeah, this is because a two-part depiction was always meant to be the plot. The second season was scheduled to come out in 2019, but for reasons unexplained, it was postponed.

But you can imagine how ecstatic viewers were when news of the second season spread across the internet in mid-September 2020, or a special feature film called “Ice Adolescence.”

Fans expect it to show more about the relationship between Yuuri and Victor, along with the shift in the feelings of Yuri P against Yuuri K. We should also expect part of the story to be focused on the complexities caused by Victor and Yuuri competing against each other in their relationship.

There is not much detail about it at this point, though, other than a very questionable short film trailer, and alas, we’re going to have to wait until mid-2021 or, maybe, 2022.
