Kingdom of Silence: Movie Review & Every Other Detail

Kingdom of Silence Update: Directed by Rick Rowley, this documentary film takes a deep dive into the life of Late Jamal Khashoggi and is executively produced by Alex Gibney and Lawrence Wright.

For many westerners who might be familiar with the name from headlines two years back, he was a Saudi-born American journalist who was being held up under the tyranny inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul until succumbing to death.

Kingdom of Silence Update

It was operated at the behest of Prince Mohammed bin Salman, de facto head of state. His murder caused more of an odium towards the American President Trump who had an arms deal and might have been aware of other nefarious influences in action  but showed his indifference to it,  not  to put billions in  business deals on the line; vacuously remarking “ Saudi Arabia is a strategically and I do think that outweighs the death of a person “

This was submerged by the spewing news of  COVID-19 pandemic, Presidential Election, and others sufficing the full media coverage.

What did the documentary feature?

Released this October 2nd, it offers a full insight not just into the profile of Khashoggi but also of the United States’ bilateralism with Saudi Arabia, reciting the utopian path from his being a columnist at The Washington Post to a self-exiled victim of a vicious murder in his homeland.

The Human Rights advocate, Mohamed Sultan accounted “Anybody that tells you that they know every aspect of Jamal’s life, they are 100% lying to you “ and this was established throughout its run.

His group of insiders describes him as a fervent soul and a big brain in which the documentary reverberates and also included footage of his writings read over by actor Nasser Faris. Even though he evolved from an Islamist to gaining a more liberal perspective, the patriotism remained grounded.

As a correspondent, he repudiated policies involving Osama Bin Laden after having interviewed him and was employed as a spokesman by the Saudi Government that accessed him to deep ties to the royal family. But as the kingdom ensconced into being a theocratic monarchy with the Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman ascending to power, Khashoggi went on to become more disillusioned.

The director exposed the crackdowns of the States as they have warranted Arabia’s exertion down the decades with the former presidents bestowing indemnity on their allies and thus nurturing an execrable environment.
