The film will be based on Juan Pablo Villalobos’ prestigious novel of the same name. The official trailer for the forthcoming Spanish-language film “I Don’t Expect Anyone to Believe Me,” based on the historical novel by Mexican novelist Juan Pablo Villalobos, has been published by Netflix.

The teaser for the upcoming humorous crime thriller begins, “Everything I’ve put down in this novel is real — I can show it.” And I’m not expecting anyone to believe me.”

I Don’t Expect Anyone to Believe Me presents an entertaining and engaging experience, with a main protagonist discussing how his life abruptly took an odd and bizarre turn — and he’s not expecting anyone to believe him.

In the trailer, graduate student Juan Pablo is preparing to go to Barcelona for a Ph.D. in Literature.

However, just when he believed his life was coming together, with his love Valentina accompanying him on his trip, he received a phone call that changed his life forever.

Juan Pablo becomes involved in an illegal organization before leaving Mexico, which causes him to create the now-award-winning novel, all while his life takes an absurd, threatening turn.

“Juan Pablo Villalobos travels to Barcelona with his girlfriend Valentina to pursue a PhD in Literature.” However, before leaving Mexico, he becomes entangled in a criminal  system, which inspires him to create the novel of his dreams as his life takes unbelievable and dark twists.”

“I Don’t Expect Anyone to Believe Me” is directed by renowned Mexican director Fernando Frias de la Parra, who has directed episodes of television programs such as “Our Flag Means Death” However, his critically acclaimed Spanish-language Netflix film “I’m No Longer Here,” which was released in 2020, rocketed him into the spotlight.

The story centered around the hardships of a rural Mexican raver who was forced to escape and migrate to the United States after encountering street violence in his hometown.

The movie also received widespread praise, including an enthusiastic recommendation from Oscar-winning Mexican filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro.
