In the finale episode, Mimihime and her friends, having escaped from Takahara Academy, stand before a vast and mysterious forest. Uncertain of their next move, Taka proposes that they move ahead.

He reveals the broken fencing around the facility, providing an entry point into the forest, where he believes they can triumph by exploring the “outside of the outside.”

Trusting Taka’s conviction, Mimihime and the others follow him into the forest. However, as they continue their journey, Mimihime’s intuition compels her to turn back, feeling the need to return.

Sharing her concerns with Shiro, they set out to find their way back to the Takahara Academy. As they navigate the unfamiliar surroundings, they become disoriented, unaware of their exact location.

Then, guided by the sound of a nearby flowing river, Mimihime leads Shiro in that direction, only to discover they are standing on a precarious cliff.

Realizing they must reach the water below, tragedy strikes as the ground beneath Mimihime gives way, causing her to fall. In a selfless act, Shiro leaps after her, ensuring she doesn’t plummet to the ground, though both sustain injuries.

However, miraculously, their wounds are not fatal, and they survive the ordeal. Meanwhile, Maru’s concern for Kiriko reaches its peak after her extended absence.

Determined to find her, he confronts the guards at the facility, resorting to violence to gain access. Maru eventually discovers Kiriko unclothed and bound on a bed. At that very moment, Robin approaches the room but flees upon realizing Maru’s presence.

Thus, driven by rage, Maru relentlessly pursues Robin, subjecting him to a brutal beating. With vengeance in his heart, Maru is poised to end Robin’s life, but Kiriko intervenes, preventing the act of murder.

The two friends leave the facility and find solace near a river, where Kiriko opens up about her struggles with identity.

Maru offers reassurance and takes a courageous step by confessing his love for the person Kiriko has become.

Although Kiriko’s response doesn’t immediately convey reciprocity, it is evident that she appreciates having Maru by her side.

At the end of this episode, following the incident, the Ministry of Reconstruction members arrive at the Ibaraki Facility for a thorough investigation.

Their shock is palpable as they discover the facility completely deserted, devoid of any personnel. Bloodstains on the walls serve as a grim reminder of the violent confrontation between Robin and Maru in the hallway.

Amidst the chaos, the investigators stumble upon a set of keys, which were dropped by Robin moments before his altercation.

Intrigued by the locked room, the only one left unexplored, they decide to unlock it and unveil its secrets.

Inside, they are met with a shocking sight—a woman lies on the floor, revealed to have registered as a resident three months prior.

Her body is inexplicably linked to a monstrous entity, leaving her disconnected from her surroundings. As the creature stirs, panic ensues, prompting everyone to hastily evacuate the room and lock it once more, struggling to comprehend the horrors that have transpired within.

While the anime concludes without providing clear answers, it is later revealed that Robin has managed to escape the region, fearing the consequences of his illicit activities.

Unknown to the Ministry of Reconstruction, Robin had been clandestinely conducting illegal experiments, particularly on humans, within the confines of the Ibaraki Facility.

Despite sustaining injuries, Robin survives and is poised to play a pivotal role in the forthcoming season, potentially further complicating the narrative.
