Queenmaker Is Streaming on Netflix Now?

K-drama is one of the most popular kinds of visual entertainment in the present day which is why every year a number of K-dramas are produced by various production houses. ‘Queenmaker’ is a new name in the list of South Korean tv series.

This Political drama series revolves around a woman named Hwang Do-hee who has been a genius of image-making and has controlled the strategic planning office of a conglomerate and a human rights lawyer named  Oh Seung-sook who is referred to as the “rhino of justice”.

When Seung-sook jumps into the election board, she helps Do-hee to become the mayor of Seoul.

When Has Queenmaker Released on Netflix?

Oh Jin-seok has directed this South Korean tv series that is written by Moon Ji-young. Yoo Deok-geun and Kim Jin-kyu have served as executive producers for the series Queenmaker. It has been released on 14th April of 2023 on Netflix.

South Korean actress Kim Hee-ae has been cast as Hwang Do-hee who is a former member of Eunsung Group’s future strategic planning office.

Hee-ae played various roles in a number of films and television series in South Korea. In 2014 she played the main character Hyun-sook in the movie ‘Thread of Lies’ which was her first film in twenty-one years.

The next year she starred as Min Ja-young in her 40s in the musical drama film ‘C’est si bon’. In the 2018 psychological thriller movie ‘The Vanished’ Hee-ae was cast as Yoon Seol-hee.

The same year she was also cast in the role of Moon Jeong-sook in another South Korean drama film ‘Herstory’. Next year she starred as the main character Yoon-hee in the movie ‘Moonlit Winter’.

Hee-ae’s television credits include ‘Precious Family’ in which she was cast as Ahn Sung-ship in 2004. As Lee Kang-ae she was cast in the 2006 K-drama ‘Snow Flower’. The next year she played Lee Hwa-young in tv series ‘My Husband’s Woman’.

In the K-drama ‘Midas’ Hee-ae was cast as Yoo In-hye in 2011. The next year Hee-ae played Yoon Seo-rae in the series ‘How Long I’ve Kissed’. She also starred as Oh Hye-won in the 2014 K-drama Secret Affair’.

Next year she played Choi Young-jin in ‘Mrs. Cop’ and the year after that Kang Min-joo in ‘Second to Last Love’. Her last television credit is as Ji Sun-woo in the 2020 K-drama ‘The World of the Married’.

Human rights lawyer Oh Seung-sook is played by South Korean actress, film director, and screenwriter Moon So-ri in the series. In 1999 she played Yun Sun-im in the South Korean drama film ‘Peppermint Candy’.

In the psychological drama romance film ‘Oasis’ she was cast as Gong-ju for which she received several accolades. Next year in ‘A Good Lawyer’s Wife’ So-ri starred as Eun Ho-jeong which again brought So-ri several awards.

So-ri’s other film credits include ‘The President’s Barber’, ‘Bravo, My Life!’, ‘Sa-kwa’, ‘Bewitching Attraction’, ‘Family Ties’, ‘Forever the Moment’, ‘Ha Ha Ha’, ‘Leafie, A Hen into the Wild’, ‘In Another Country’, ‘An Ethics Lesson’, ‘The Spy: Undercover Operation’, ‘Venus Talk’, ‘Hill of Freedom’, ‘The Actress’, ‘Love and…’, ‘The Mayor’, ‘The Running Actress’, ‘Little Forest’, ‘Ode to the Goose’, ‘Juror 8’, ‘Three Sisters’, ‘Seoul Vibe’ etc.

So-ri previously starred in a number of television series. She played Seo Kiha in the South Korean historical fantasy tv series ‘The Legend’ in 2007.

In 2016 she was cast as Ahn Jin-joo in the K-drama ‘The Legend of the Blue Sea’. In the South Korean tv series ‘Life’ she starred as Oh Se-hwa in 2018. Her last television series is ‘On the Verge of Insanity’ in which she played Dang Ja-young in 2021.

Baek Jae-min who is another Seoul mayoral candidate has been played by South Korean actor Ryu Soo-young in the series. Recipient of a number of accolades, Soo-young starred in a number of television series and films. In 2001 he played Jin-woo aka Sang-ho in the South Korean movie ‘Summertime’.

As Captain Baek Doo-ho he was cast in the action thriller film ‘Steel Rain 2: Summit’ in 2020. Soo-young played cameo roles in the 2013 film ‘The Attorney’ and the 2023 film ‘My Heart Puppy’.

Soo-young’s television credits include ‘Successful Story of a Bright Girl’, ‘Save the Last Dance for Me’, ’18 vs. 29′, ‘Seoul 1945’, ‘My Princess’, ‘Ojakgyo Family’, ‘Drama Special-The Memory in My Old Wallet’, ‘Two Weeks’, ‘Endless Love’, ‘Blood’, ‘The Eccentric Daughter-in-Law’, ‘My Lawyer, Mr. Jo’, ‘My Father is Strange’, ‘Nice Witch’, ‘Love in Sadness’, ‘Here’s My Plan’ etc.

Supporting cast members of ‘Queenmaker’ are Seo Yi-sook, Kim Tae-hoon, Ok Ja-yeon, Jin Kyung, Lee Geung-young, Kim Byeong-ok, Yoon Ji-hye, and Kim Sae-byuk.
