Despite the acclamation and the major cliffhanger that season 2 was left on, there was never a third season due to lack of viewership.

Utopia was a show based on a community of people following a comic book that rightfully predicted what was going to happen in the future; from the prediction of a flu to a political member getting killed; it had everything.

Despite the overwhelming plot, the record states that the second season of the show failed to reach the viewership of 1 million and the budget cuts hence became the issue.

But the fans were outraged because of this as the season 2 ending promised an exciting plot for the upcoming season and also the fate of the main characters was left dangling in the air with no conclusive air around it.

It has been stated that in the years to follow 2014, fans have called and asked Channel 4 to reinstate the show or get a special spin off to toe off the loose ends but no such is happening. Amazon states that more than the continuation, the calls have been about a remake of the same show.

But there is still some hope out there as the American adaptation of Utopia aired in 2020 which is so similar to UK version that the fans still might get a chance to see how things go on in season 3 in the American version.
