Marvel will celebrate the holidays with the highly anticipated What If…? Season 2! The first trailer for the upcoming season of What If…?, the animated series that explores how stories from the Marvel Cinematic Universe unfolded in alternative timelines owing to small, unforeseen changes, is here.
The animation project is returning more than two years after the first chapter showed viewers the boundless possibilities the universe offers.
While the heroes and villains fans have known for over a decade may not be where they should be, the franchise’s trademark explosive action will be there in the next episodes.
What If…? Season 2 | Official Trailer
While the What If…? Season 2 trailer extensively references story points established in Season 1, the Disney+ program also subtly references the Multiverse Saga.
“But things are getting a little twisted…in the multiverse,” The Watcher says in the trailer, referring to the notion that Phases 4 and 5 have begun to raise the stakes for the Multiverse Saga.
With Loki’s great sacrifice, The Watcher would be naive if he did not recognize that the God of Mischief had become the God of Stories.
For now, only time will reveal if Tom Hiddleston’s adored character appears in What If…? season 2 or not. The Watcher connects the series’ events and viewers as he explores the many timelines and how they vary from what has been seen in over thirty MCU films.
The latest trailer offers a new version of the Avengers, or at the very least, a super-powered squad of remarkable people fighting to safeguard the world from what looks to be a child with telekinetic skills.
The main worry for What If…? season 2 is whether they will introduce a new Kang variety as they begin to build towards Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Kang’s involvement in the program would make sense, given that the multiverse is key to the plot.
The Cast and Crew of What If…? Season 2
Cate Blanchett‘s selection as Hela is the only new performer confirmed for What If…? Season two. Mick Wingert as Tony Stark/Iron Man & Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster might both return.
Season 2 has confirmed appearances of the Scarlet Witch, Yelena Belova, Kate Bishop, Kamala Khan, Jimmy Woo, Katy (from Shang Chi), Abomination, Ghost, the Red Guardian, Death Dealer, and Shang-Chi himself. It is still unknown who will be voicing these characters.
What If…? Season 2 will begin on Friday, December 22, with one new episode released every day for nine days until the end of 2023.
