When Is Netflix’s The Mothership Coming? Well, Netflix’s highly anticipated sci-fi thriller, “The Mothership,” featuring Halle Berry, initially set for a 2022 release, faced delays and was rescheduled for 2023.
However, recent information from The InSneider reveals that the film has been completely dropped by Netflix and will not be released on the platform, despite completing its initial round of filming.
Matthew Charman, the Oscar-nominated writer behind “Bridge of Spies,” penned the script for The Mothership and was poised to make his directorial debut with this project.
Notably, Charman is also credited as a producer for Netflix’s “Treason,” starring Charlie Cox. The project was announced in February 2021, with Halle Berry, Danny Stillman, Fred Berger, and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones among the producers.

When Is Netflix’s The Mothership Coming?
The movie The Mothership was initially set to be released on Netflix in 2022, as mentioned in their video preview and official documents for the year. However, in August 2022, it was announced, along with nine other movies, that its release would be delayed to 2023.
When Netflix revealed its 2023 movie lineup in January of that year, The Mothership was missing. The closest we got to knowing when it might be released was in June 2023 when Omari Hardwick mentioned in an Essence interview that the movie was still scheduled for later in 2023.
In January 2024, a report from Jeff Sneider of The Insneider stated that the project had been canceled. According to Sneider, extensive reshoots were needed, but the cost and resources required were deemed too high.
Despite this setback, a Netflix source mentioned that Halle Berry would still be starring in another upcoming movie, The Union.

What Is The Plotline Of The Mothership?
We don’t know much about this story except for what was officially described by Deadline. The story is about a woman named Sara Morse, played by Berry. It’s been a year since her husband disappeared from their farm in the countryside under strange circumstances.
One day, she finds a weird object from outer space hidden beneath their home. This discovery sets off an exciting adventure as Sara and her children set out to uncover the truth behind her husband’s disappearance and find him.
