Plotline Of The Series Transatlantic

The novel The Flight Portfolio by Julie Orringer, which is inspired by the true story of the Emergency Rescue Committee, served as the inspiration for the plot of this series.

This takes place in the midst of World War II in the year 1940 when Varian Fry flies to Marseille with approximately three thousand dollars and a list of artists and writers he wishes to assist in their escape.

He stayed there for more than a year instead of just going there for a few weeks.

He has organized refugee journeys to safer ports around Spain and Portugal, gathered emergency finances, and faked documentation.

Famous authors, including Hannah Arendt, Max Ernst, Marcel Duchamp, and Marc Chagall, are among the ones he assisted. Although the novel written by Orringer served as the primary source of motivation for the creation of this series, Varian Fry was, in fact, a real person.

During the Holocaust, the Emergency Rescue Committee was a legitimate private American relief organization.

Fry was a journalist from the United States who was prepared to utilize both legal and unlawful means to assist roughly 2,000 refugees in leaving France and immigrating to the United States.

He was only tasked with saving two hundred artists and authors who had been hand-picked for their intellectual prowess.

Nonetheless, not only was he successful in completing his purpose by assisting writers and artists in fleeing the country, but he also saved the lives of a great number of other people.

It’s possible that the events will be based on The Flight Portfolio as well as adaptations of actual historical occurrences. A period play based on actual events broadens the range of available global content and educates us on some previously unknown historical events.

We shall witness Fry’s bravery and his selflessness in helping people in need. During a very dark time in our history, some light will be revealed.
