Police were called to a traffic jam in the middle of the road that morning, and when they arrived, they discovered Shin Hye Sung dozing off in a car. He was asked to submit to a breathalyzer test, but he declined. Shin Hye Sung was also driving a car that had been reported stolen at the time.

The following statement was made in reaction to the reports by Shin Hye Sung’s company, Liveworks Company:

On October 10, around 11 p.m., Shin Hye Sung met up with friends at a restaurant in Gangnam District. He then left for home after drinking alcohol and obtaining a car key from the valet attendant. He was traveling home when he fell asleep while waiting in traffic, refused to submit to the police officer’s request to take a breathalyser test, and was consequently arrested.

There is no justification for Shin Hye Sung’s actions, which included driving while intoxicated and without realizing the car wasn’t his. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused.

Liveworks Company will update you as we learn more specifics about the incident.

We apologize once more for generating this worry.”

This is not the first time that the singer-songwriter, Hyesung is caught drunk; earlier in April 2007, the Korea Herald claimed that Shin was previously arrested for drunk driving. According to reports, his blood alcohol content was 0.097%, which is high enough to result in the suspension of his driver’s license.
