A new thriller on Netflix with a reasonably recognizable premise is {UNDER HER CONTROL. Imagine Inside crossed with Single White Female, although neither is quite as spooky.
The plot of this Spanish film, La Jefa, is incredibly relatable to everyone. The fact that some of the characters in this movie are not Spanish is also essential to the plot.
Who is in actuality in control?
The central theme of Under Her Control is a strong lady’s desire to support a young woman by adopting her kid. The narrative might be better described as an older, highly wealthy woman who is urgently trying to have a kid and who, at a crucial juncture, crosses up with a young, devout woman who is very much an opportunist.
Under Her Control is this movie’s worldwide (or just English) title, which invites the question: What does the title relate to? Of course, one would assume it’s the senior and more powerful CEO, as the original Spanish title is La Jefa [the boss].
It appears that the new apprentice who finds out she’s pregnant just as she gets the job of her dreams is also in charge. But, in reality, as the plot develops, the control changes multiple times.

Under Her Control, with a script by Laura Sarmiento Pallarés, is directed by Fran Torres. If the name didn’t make sense, this is the first feature picture directed by Fran Torres, a male. He has previously worked on two short films.
Laura Sarmiento Pallarés has primarily written for television shows in the past. She also makes her acting debut in this new feature film and the Netflix series Diablero.

The Netflix film Under Her Control’s conclusion
There’s little question that Under Her Control’s proper conclusion will be both expected and unexpected. In other words, it combines aspects of the two. Neither of the two central characters is very likable as they both increasingly reveal their actual selves.
They also appear to value and reject something depending on how each of them may take advantage of these commonalities. Since we must experience a wide range of their characters, I adored the performances of the two key actors.
I find something in this movie that works nicely. Although Beatriz, the boss, is strong and forceful, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón (The Machinist) also has weak points.
Cameleon Sanz, born in Argentina, is just as passionate as Sofa. The young, adorable girl who is ambitious and fast to learn. Her supervisor is thrilled she found this treasure since she picked up on Beatriz’s methods.
