Tom Ellis Reveals Who He Would Want to Play if He Wasn’t Lucifer

Tom Ellis Updates: Tom Ellis, who plays the titular character on the Netflix series Lucifer, revealed which other character he would like to play in the series.

During the ComicCon@Home panel, Tom Ellis, the star of Lucifer, revealed which other character from the show he would like to play. The show which premiered in 2016 is based on the DC comics by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg.

The series revolves around Lucifer Morningstar, a fallen angel, who abandons hell to live in Los Angeles. He opens his own nightclub in LA and eventually ends up serving the LAPD as a consultant. The show has built up over five seasons and the sixth and final season is currently in production. The series was canceled by FOX after its initial seasons and found a home in Netflix which led it to global recognition.

Lucifer does revolve around its titular hero but over the course of the series, a lot of episodes focused on the show’s supporting cast. The supporting cast of the show includes Lauren German as Detective Chloe, Lucifer’s partner at LAPD and potential love interest; Kevin Alejandro plays the role of Detective Daniel Espinoza, Chloe’s ex-husband; Chloe and Daniel share a daughter Trixie who is played by Scarlett Estevez.

The show also sees D.B. Woodside and Lesley-Ann Brandt play an angel and a demon respectively. Rachael Harris plays Lucifer’s therapist, Linda, while season 2 saw the addition of Aimee Garcia to the cast as forensic scientist Ella Lopez.

Tom Ellis Reveals Which Other Character He Would Play

During the ComicCon@Home, Ellis was asked the question of which character from the show he would like to play. Ellis first joked about it saying that he would love to play Trixie. However, he later set on two supporting characters- Amenadiel and Maze.

Both the characters are very interesting and resonate with Lucifer to some degree. Ellis agreed that Maze’s scenes are the most fun as the character is unbeatable with a knife.

However, Maze starts off the show being distrustful of humans and who doesn’t want anything more than to return back to her world. Amenadiel started off in a similar fashion, being a misfit in LA and plotting to send back his devilish brother to Hell. He settles in with time and finds LA to be charming and complicated. The two characters’ resonance with Lucifer is notable as even though Lucifer started off with a kinder view of humanity, his growth and maturity did not occur at once.

While it would have been fun seeing Ellis portray the seriousness of Amenadiel or the cheekiness of Maze, we can’t deny the fact that the Netflix show has a perfect cast. What brings back the audience season after season is the chemistry that the cast has managed to establish.

It is hard to imagine anyone else in the roles. The actors have managed to build up a rapport and a rhythm with each other that reflects in their performance and adds to the humor of the show. As the final season approaches, we have come to the realization that it would truly be difficult to see them go.
