Netflix’s The Last Kingdom Season 5 to draw the curtain from it’s Release Date and Plot

The Last Kingdom Season 5: It seems that The Last Kingdom has had its run and would be ending with the fifth season. The British historical drama series, which premiered in 2015 on BBC America and BBC Two, has had quite a successful term with an 8.4/10 IMDb rating and a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.

What is The Last Kingdom Season 5 about?

The TV show is based on The Saxton Stories, a historical book series by Bernard Cornwell. It revolves around Uhtred, the successor of Saxon, who is captured by the Danes who raise him as one of their own and eventually decide to put his loyalty to the test. The show mainly focuses on the Kingdom of Wessex’s battle against Viking incursions.

The fourth season was released in April 2020 and soon after the show was renewed for another season in July. As per a Deadline report, the season, which is currently being shot in Hungary, will be the series’ last installment.

The upcoming season will adapt the 9th and 10th books of Cornwell’s series and similar to the last two seasons, the fifth part would also feature a total of ten episodes. The season will see Uhtred facing his “greatest enemy” and suffering a great loss.

The Last Kingdom Season 5: Cast

Along with several members who would be returning for the season, the fifth installment would also see new faces on the screen. Patrick Robinson would be joining the team Father Benedict who is a holy man albeit with a troubled past. Sonya Cassidy would also feature in the new season as Eadgifu, an open-hearted newcomer in Winchester.

Additionally, Alexander Dreymon, who plays the role of Uhtred, would be directing one of the episodes in the new season.
