The return of Eddie Murphy as the legendary Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley is set to give Hollywood a nostalgic lift. The first trailer, which features Murphy’s character on a new adventure, was recently released by Netflix as the next chapter of the famous franchise.

The original Beverly Hills Cop became a worldwide sensation, showcasing Murphy’s comedic talents and redefining the action-comedy genre.

So far, Beverly Hills Cop has inspired two sequels, the most recent of which was released in 1994. More than three decades later, the fourth Beverly Hills Cop film, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, is on the way.

Netflix recently released an official trailer for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, giving fans their first look at the new film, and it proves that Murphy didn’t skip a beat when playing our favorite cop.

The minute-and-a-half trailer brings back Axel and follows him from his hometown of Detroit to the sunny and wild world of Beverly Hills.

This fourth installment will show us how, decades after solving his final case, Axel Foley finds himself again in the flash and splendor of Beverly Hills, dealing with a new threat that is close to home.

This time around, his daughter’s life is in jeopardy, compelling him to work with a young, tech-savvy colleague and reunite with old friends. They join together on a crucial mission to uncover a long-hidden conspiracy.

This adventure, packed with unexpected twists, seeks to engage fans who have enjoyed the series since the beginning while captivating new viewers.

Murphy is set to play the role of Axel Foley, the witty police officer from Detroit, once again in the upcoming movie. This will be the fourth time the renowned comic has played the role.

Judge Reinhold, Paul Reiser, John Ashton, and Bronson Pinchot stated they would reprise their roles asĀ  Jeffery Friedman, John Taggart, Billy Rosewood, and Surge. Whereas Reinhold, Ashton, & Pinchot featured in all three films with Murphy, Reiser sat out the third, so his comeback may surprise viewers.

Taylour Paige (Zola), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception), & Kevin Bacon (Footloose) are among the latest additions to the franchise.

Paige will portray Foley’s estranged daughter Jane, a criminal defense attorney; Gordon-Levitt will play Foley’s intriguing partner, Bobby Abbott, while Bacon will play Grant, the Beverly Hills Police Department commander.

Despite no official release date announcement, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F will debut on Netflix in 2024. While the first three movies in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise were released theatrically by Paramount, the latest edition is backed by Netflix, according to a contract between the studio and the streaming service back in 2019. Although nothing is official, Netflix may release the movie in theatres.
