Succession – Number of Seasons: 4

Cosmopolitan

Jesse Armstrong created this satirical comedy-drama TV series that was nominated for 39 Primetime Emmy Awards.

The plot revolves around the entertainment conglomerate and global media owner Roy’s family as the members begin to fight for control of the company following the uncertainty of the patriarch’s death. The series concluded on May 28 this year.

Better Call Saul – Number of Seasons: 6

This legal crime drama TV series is a spin-off of ‘Breaking Bad‘ serving both as a sequel and prequel and part of the Breaking Bad franchise.

The plot finds ex-con artist Jimmy McGill (played by Bob Odenkirk) transforming into his alter ego of a morally challenged criminal lawyer named Saul Goodman. The series ran from February 8, 2015, to August 15, 2022.

House of the Dragons – Number of Seasons: 1

Game of Thrones‘s spin-off prequel was long-awaited and proved to be satisfying the expectations of fans of the epic fantasy series, if not exceeding them.

It is the second TV adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire franchise and is based on his ‘Fire and Blood’. The first season ran from August 21 to October 23 last year, yet its fever has yet not died out.

The plot of this series is set 200 years before the incidents of GOT and chronicles the reign of the dragonrider Targaryen Dynasty from the beginning to the end of their heyday when King Viserys I Targaryen named her daughter as his heir leading to the war of succession known as “Dance of the Dragons”.

Young actresses Milly Alcock and Emily Carey gained fame for starring in the first season before their exit from the series.

Other cast members include Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans, Tom Glynn-Carney, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell etc.

The series won Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama with D’Arcy nominated for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama.

It has been nominated for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series the result of which is pending. A second season was renewed five days after its premiere. Filming of Season 2 began on April 11, 2023.

Stranger Things – Number of Seasons: 4

The Duffer Brothers created a sci-fi horror mystery drama series that follows the residents of the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, plagued by a hostile alternate dimension, the Upside Dow.

The main cast members include Millie Bobby Brown playing the famous role of Eleven, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Sadie Sink, Maya Hawke, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, etc. The fifth and final season of the series was renewed in February of 2022.

The Summer I Turned Pretty – Number of Seasons: 2

This romantic drama series that is currently at the top of the list of fans of that genre. It finds Belly (played by Lola Tung) in a love triangle with the sons (played by Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno) of her mother’s best friend as everybody goes through personal grief and growth.

The second season of the series premiered on July 14, 2023. In August this year, a third season was renewed.

The Crown – Number of Seasons: 5

The New York Times

This historical drama TV series chronicles the reign of Queen Elizabeth II from the beginning of her marriage to Philip, Duke of Edinburgh to her reign into the 21st century.

After Claire Foy and Olivia Colman, Imelda Staunton now stars as Queen Elizabeth II. The filming of the upcoming sixth season was halted for the death of Elizabeth II “out of rest”, but will include the events before and following the death. The series was nominated for 28 Primetime Emmy Awards.

The Flight Attendant – Number of Seasons: 2

The Big Bang Theory‘ famed Kaley Cuoco starred in the lead role in this Emmy-nominated dark comedy mystery thriller drama TV in the role of a flight attendant finding herself in the middle of a mysterious death. The series ran from November 26, 2020, to May 26, 2022.

Only Murders in the Building – Number of Seasons: 3

Den of Geek

This Emmy-nominated mystery comedy-drama TV series stars Steve Martin, Selena Gomez, and Martin Short in the roles of three individuals who share an apartment and a common interest in true crime podcasts. The third season of the series premiered on August 8, 2023.

Yellowjackets – Number of Seasons: 2

Vanity Fair

This thriller drama series revolves around the survivors of a plane crash who were flying to Seattle for a national Soccer tournament twenty-five years ago. It was nominated for seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Season 3 was renewed in December of 2022.

Game of Thrones – Number of Seasons: 8

Although it concluded in 2019, the popularity of GOT has once again revived since the release of its spin-off ‘House of the Dragon‘, although it cannot be said to have ever died, except for the controversial eighth season.

Based on Martin’s ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’, the plot is set in the fictional Seven Kingdoms of Westeros and the continent of Essos.

There are three plotlines- the war among nine noble families for the Iron Throne, the eminent threat of legendary creatures endangering the human world, and the quest of Daenerys Targaryen to re-establish her house on the Iron Throne.

All of these plotlines conjoined gradually in the series. Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Kit Harrington, Maisie Williams, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Iain Glen, Sophie Turner, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Gwendoline Christie are some of the main cast members of the series. It received 59 Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
