Annual Emmy Awards Postponed 2nd Time In History.

In one of the rare happenings and only the second time in Hollywood history, the Emmy Awards event has been postponed, the last and first postponement came after the tragic and deadly 9/11 incident in 2001.

The 75th Annual Emmy Awards, which was scheduled to take place on September 18, has now been postponed and is now expected to happen in January 2024.

The hosts of the event, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences have officially made the official announcement of the postponement.

This has happened due to the widespread protest initiated by unions of writers and actors – Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).

The reason for the strike is the low pay scale of the writers and proposals from “the studios” — a group featuring streaming giants Apple, Amazon, Netflix, NBCUniversal, Sony, and Paramount, to use Artificial Intelligence tools in the processes involved in filmmaking, this will hugely impact the writers and to an extent that they could go out of work.

Following the path of the writers, the actors also went on strike and aren’t going on their shooting sets, their demand is to have a legal contract that would prevent an AI or any kind of use of AI from replacing them at their jobs, be it writing scripts or working as a background artist.

Another big issue is about the pay, many writers and artists have claimed that they barely make 30k in a year and this has forced them to do part-time jobs.

The strike has certainly impacted Hollywood to a huge impact as many big names like Brad Pitt have not shown up to the sets of their upcoming movies, while stars like George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Susan Sarandon have shown their support and solidarity.
