Sony WF-1000XM5 Design
It’s encouraging to note that the Sony WF-1000XM5 has a new design of around 20% lighter & 25% smaller.
They are less intrusive and are meant to sit more discreetly in the ears. The charging case is also smaller in size. On the top lid is a copper Sony logo.
The Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds have a glossy and matte appearance. They sacrifice the XM4’s signature copper ring design for a smaller copper vent concealing an ANC microphone. A little copper Sony logo on the side is also a great touch.
The WF-1000XM5 now comes with SS-size tips, providing customers with four ear tip sizes to assist more wearers in obtaining a more robust and secure fit overall.
The WF-1000XM5 ear tips are substantially more pleasant, minimizing ear discomfort during lengthy listening sessions and eliminating considerable in-ear pressure.

The frequency range is expansive, and the mid-detail levels applied to vocalists are among the most authentic. The voices have greater presence and realism.
Sony’s DSEE Extreme is now a typical audio function on many top Sony headphones.
Another notable Sony feature is 360 Reality Audio. The company’s response to Apple’s spatial audio adds a 3D effect to compatible music. Head tracking has been incorporated, and the bass was deep and powerful without being overpowering.

Verdict
Sony has packed everything possible into these significantly smaller earphones, including extra foam tips to ensure a perfect fit. LDAC, Bluetooth 5.3, and the company’s top-tier DSEE, more upscale, are all there, as is competitive battery life and 100% genuine Sony sound.
However, connection drops, middling ANC performance, and an app that appears crowded at this top level add up for us.
