The Honor 90 Review.

For a low price, the Honor 90 has a large display, a large storage capacity, and a large battery.

The Honor 90 beats its low price with a sleek design and a stunning display, and its sturdy main camera is Instagram-worthy as well. You’ll have to put up with an unappealing plasticky look, and there are no extras like wireless chargers or waterproofing, but the price is still reasonable.

Avoid it if you prefer a more natural-looking photo quality or extended software update support. It is also not available to customers in the United States.

The Honour 90 weighs more than its predecessor, yet it feels just as comfortable in hand, with 161.9mm x 74.1mm x 7.8mm.

The design is significantly unchanged from the Honor 70, except for a minor reshaping of the two camera rings and the phone’s rounded corners, which make it equally simple to hold and use with one hand.

The Honour 90 is available in three colors: Midnight Black, Emerald Green, and Diamond Silver, with the latter being available only on the Honor website. In the UK, the green model is the only one that comes with both memory/storage options.

Honor claims that the Honor 90 is made of “deeply reinforced glass,” which increases its durability.

Display

The Honor 90
Honor

Honor has placed a strong emphasis on the Honor 90’s display. The Honor 90 is not only relatively large at 6.7 inches, but it also offers a resolution of 2664 x 1200 pixels.

Honor also has its typical set of special functions for maintaining eye health. Honor says that 3,840Hz PWM dimming makes the display less flickery and hence less strain on the eye, as does Dynamic Dimming & Circadian Night Display, which adjust the color and brightness of the screen during the day.

This contributes to the Honour 90, which is more comfortable to use for extended periods without hurting your eyes or affecting your sleep than a conventional mobile device display.

Price and Availabiliity

The Honor 90

The Honor 90 is available in two memory options in the United Kingdom: 8GB RAM with 256GB storage and 12GB RAM with 512GB storage.

The former costs £449.99, and the latter £499.99, and both are available now from Honor directly. The Honour 90 will be available through Amazon, Very, and Currys on July 19 and Three on July 26.

Camera

The Honor 90
Honor

The Honor 90 has a triple-camera system that includes a 200MP primary lens, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor to assist the camera in determining distance properly.

During the day, photos are unsurprisingly good, with appealing hues and plenty of clarity from the high-resolution sensor.

There’s no telephoto lens here, but the camera app provides a shortcut to a digital 2x zoom from the primary lens, which should be handy in a pinch.

The 12Mp ultrawide sounds less remarkable on paper, but it only performs as long as the lighting is adequate. When it gets dark, it suffers because it’s not worth using in poor lighting.

Battery

The Honor 90
Honor

Regarding battery life, the Honor 90 has a massive 5,000mAh battery.

Honor claims that the Honor 90 will provide up to 19.5 hours of continuous local video streaming, which has proven true in my tests thus far. In all, save for the most demanding usage situations, the phone will survive a full day effortlessly.

In terms of charging, the phone offers 66W wired charging. Unfortunately, the Honor 90 lacks wireless charging capability, and although this isn’t something we’d expect from a mid-range device, its absence keeps the phone from being truly fantastic.

Performance

The Honor 90

The Honor 90 is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 ‘Accelerated Edition’ processor. The Honor 90 can easily handle the rigors of surfing, streaming, and gaming.

While there is a little drop in performance when many power-hungry applications are open simultaneously, a typical user is unlikely to put the phone through comparable rigors.

Final thoughts

Even compared to other reasonably priced midrange phones, the Honor 90 is a steal. The vast display, long-lasting battery, and high-resolution primary camera provide a lot of phone for your money, even if overall photo quality falls a little short.

The Honor 90 is certainly worth considering, especially if you want the most display size, storage capacity, and battery life for your money.
