Taylor Sheridan, the creator of the series, has some opinions on the departure of Yellowstone actor Kevin Costner to pursue another directing endeavor. In an interview on Wednesday, Sheridan, the man behind Paramount’s massive Yellowstone series, broke his silence over rumors of Costner’s surprise departure.

Yellowstone, a well-known drama series, is coming to an end, disappointing its admirers all around the world. After it was revealed that the program’s star, Kevin Costner, had left Yellowstone, rumors that the show was ending began circulating.

Rumors that all was not well in the realm of Yellowstone first surfaced earlier this year. The megahit show appeared to be experiencing drama behind the scenes despite being renewed for a supersized fifth season, which will be split into two parts throughout 2022 and 2023.

As fans wondered why the second half of the season hadn’t yet begun filming, rumors circulated that the show might end.

The program’s producer said he was distraught with the lead actor’s choice to leave since it halted the character’s natural development and resolution. “I’m disappointed. It truncates the closure of his character. It doesn’t alter it but truncates it,” stated Sheridan.

When it was exclusively revealed in February that Paramount was taking moves to cancel its flagship series and switch to a new spinoff starring Matthew McConaughey, rumors about Costner leaving Yellowstone initially surfaced.

Costner will return to directing at least once for the Horizon series of four films. His participation in the Paramount series has reportedly interfered with his plans to co-write and star in the movie.
