Lee Seung Gi to Terminate His Contract with Hook Entertainment.

The South Korean actor, singer, host, and entertainer Lee Seung Gi has forwarded the notice of the termination to Hook Entertainment. As a singer, he has achieved many successes with songs like “Because You’re My Woman,” “Will You Marry Me,” “Return,” and “The Ordinary Man.”

Along with his music career, he has also excelled in his acting career. He has worked in various dramas such as Brilliant Legacy (2009), My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho (2010), The King 2 Hearts (2012), Gu Family Book (2013), A Korean Odyssey (2017–2018), You’re All Surrounded (2014), Vagabond (2019), and Mouse (2021).

The legal issue between Seung Gi and Hook Entertainment continues. A representative of Lee Seung Gi stated that Lee Seung Gi is going to terminate his contract with the company Hook Entertainment.

On December 1, a representative for Lee Seung Gi disclosed, “Today, Lee Seung Gi sent a termination notice for his exclusive contract to Hook Entertainment.”

The issue started when Lee Gi asked for a transparent disclosure of his music after the company was raided by the Severe Crime Investigation Division of the National Police Agency due to suspicion of embezzlement by some executives.

On November 21, it was disclosed that the actor has not received a penny for his music for 18 years and the 5 years’ worth of statement was also missing. The CEO of Hook Entertainment responded to it claiming that the fact-checking is under process.

In response to this Lee Gi’s legal representative claimed that in response to his request for settlement information, Lee Gi was insulted and threatened. He had never been informed of the money he had made from his music.

On November 30, the CEO of Hook Entertainment, Kwon Jin Young, said that she would be fully accountable for the dispute surrounding Lee Gi’s unpaid music profits and that she would sell her personal property to fulfill that obligation.

Lee Seung Gi is known as a “Triple Threat” entertainer due to his accomplishments in acting, hosting, and singing. He debuted on the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list in 2010, finishing seventh, before moving up to fourth in 2011, sixth in 2012, and seventh again in 2015 and 2022.
