Harriet Warner has created the upcoming American period drama series ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ which is adapted from the same named epistolary novel of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos of 1782.
Warner along with Colin Callender, Tony Krantz, and Christopher Hampton has served as executive producer in the series. Also, Barney Reisz is the producer of the series.
Plot Line of Dangerous Liaisons:
The plot line of the upcoming period drama ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ revolves around Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont.
They are narcissistic rivals cum ex-lovers whose origin story and events of their early years are depicted in the series.

Lesley Manville–
The character of Geneviève de Merteuil is played by English actress Lesley Manville in the upcoming series. Her film credits include ‘Topsy-Turvy’, ‘All or Nothing, ‘The Great Ecstasy of Robert Carmichael’, ‘Another Year’, ‘Womb’, ‘Maleficent’, ‘Mr. Turner, ‘Molly Moon and the Incredible Book of Hypnotism, ‘Hampstead’, ‘Phantom Thread’, ‘Ordinary Love, ‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’, ‘Misbehaviour’, ‘Let Him Go, and ‘Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris’ etc.
From 1974 to 1976 Manville portrayed Rosemary Kendall in the British soap opera ‘Emmerdale Farm’. Manville also played Nikki in BBC’s six-part children’s tv serial ‘King Cinder’ in 1977.
In the 1994 British tv series ‘Little Napoleons’ she starred as a politician who is involved in the local council elections. In 1997 she was cast as Hilary in the eight-part British tv series ‘Holding On.
In another British thriller series ‘Mayday’ she starred as Gail, wife of a successful local public figure Malcolm (played by Peter Firth) in a loveless marriage in 2013.
Next year she was cast as Evelyn Fleming in the British miniseries ‘Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond’ which depicts the military career of Ian Fleming, creator of James Bond.
From 2016 to 2019 Manville played Cathy in the sitcom ‘Mum’ as the lead character Cathy Walker. And from 2017 to 2019 she played Lydia Quigley in the British American period drama ‘Harlots’. In 2022 she appeared in the series Magpie Murders and ‘Sherwood’.
Nicholas Denton-
The character of Pascal Valmont is played by Nicholas Denton in the series. Though he did not star in very major roles, he previously appeared in ‘Glitch’, ‘Holding the Man’, ‘Pillars’, ‘Not Dark Yet’, ‘Witches of Blackwood’, ‘Utopia’, ‘My Life is Murder’, ‘The Diver’, ‘Jupiter’, ‘Clinical’ etc.
Alice Englert-
The role of Camille is played by Australian actress Alice Englert in the upcoming series. His previous films include ‘Ginger & Rosa’, ‘Beautiful Creatures, ‘In Fear’, ‘The Lovers, ‘The Rehearsal’, ‘Them That Follow’, ‘Body Brokers’, ‘The Power of the Dog’, ‘You Won’t Be Alone’ etc.
In 2014 she was cast in the main role of Hope Russell in Channel 4’s tv series ‘New Worlds’. The next year she starred as Lady Emma Pole in the seven-part British historical fantasy miniseries ‘Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell’.
In the second season of the 2017 mystery series, ‘Top of the Lake’ Englert played Mary Edwards. As the recurring character Dolly she starred in the psychological thriller series ‘Ratched‘ in 2020. Next year she also starred as Teresa Knowlton in BBC’s crime drama serial ‘The Serpent‘.
Carice van Houten-
As Jacqueline de Montrachet, Dutch actress Carice van Houten will be seen starring in the series. Though she has been active in her acting career since the year of 1997, especially in the Dutch film industry, for general viewers she is mostly recognized as Melisandre of Asshai, a Red Priestess, in HBO’s celebrated epic fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones’ from 2012 to 2019.
Houten’s film credits include ‘Miss Minoes’, ‘Black Swans’, ‘Black Book’, ‘Love is All’, ‘Valkyrie’, ‘Stricken’, ‘Black Death’, ‘The Happy Housewife’, ‘Black Butterflies’, ‘Jackie’, ‘Family Way’, ‘Brimstone’ etc.
Paloma Faith-
The character of Florence de Régnier played in the upcoming series is portrayed by English actress Paloma Faith. Since 2019 Faith has been starring in the American tv series ‘Pennyworth’ as the main character of Bet Skyes.
She also gave voice to the character of Portia Poodle in Disney’s animated tv series ‘101 Dalmatian Street’ from 2019 to 2020.
Michael McElhatton-
Irish actor Michael McElhatton will be seen starring in the role of Jean de Merteuil in the series. He is also a cast of ‘Game of Thrones‘ who played Roose Bolton.
Other than that he also starred in the tv series ‘Paths to Freedom’, ‘The Fall’, ‘New Worlds’, ‘Genius’, ‘The Rook’, ‘Das Boot’, ‘The Alienist: Angel of Darkness, etc.
Kosar Ali-
In the role of Victoire, British actress Kosar Ali will be seen starring in the series. For the 2019 British coming-of-age movie ‘Rocks’ she was street cast at the age of thirteen. The movie premiered at Toronto International Film Festival.
Ali gained a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at British Academy and Film Awards. She also won the British Independent Film Awards under the categories of Best Supporting Actress and Most Promising Newcomer in 2021.
The movie is set to premiere on November 9, 2022, on Starz.
