Dangerous Liaisons Release Date, and Everything About the Period Drama

Harriet Warner has created the upcoming American period drama series ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ which is adapted from the same named epistolary novel of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos of 1782.

Warner along with Colin Callender, Tony Krantz, and Christopher Hampton has served as executive producer in the series. Also, Barney Reisz is the producer of the series.

The plot line of the upcoming period drama ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ revolves around Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont.

They are narcissistic rivals cum ex-lovers whose origin story and events of their early years are depicted in the series.

The character of Geneviève de Merteuil is played by English actress Lesley Manville in the upcoming series. Her film credits include ‘Topsy-Turvy’, ‘All or Nothing, ‘The Great Ecstasy of Robert Carmichael’, ‘Another Year’, ‘Womb’, ‘Maleficent’, ‘Mr. Turner, ‘Molly Moon and the Incredible Book of Hypnotism, ‘Hampstead’, ‘Phantom Thread’, ‘Ordinary Love, ‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’, ‘Misbehaviour’, ‘Let Him Go, and ‘Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris’ etc.

From 1974 to 1976 Manville portrayed Rosemary Kendall in the British soap opera ‘Emmerdale Farm’. Manville also played Nikki in BBC’s six-part children’s tv serial ‘King Cinder’ in 1977.

In the 1994 British tv series ‘Little Napoleons’ she starred as a politician who is involved in the local council elections. In 1997 she was cast as Hilary in the eight-part British tv series ‘Holding On.

In another British thriller series ‘Mayday’ she starred as Gail, wife of a successful local public figure Malcolm (played by Peter Firth) in a loveless marriage in 2013.

Next year she was cast as Evelyn Fleming in the British miniseries ‘Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond’ which depicts the military career of Ian Fleming, creator of James Bond.

From 2016 to 2019 Manville played Cathy in the sitcom ‘Mum’ as the lead character Cathy Walker. And from 2017 to 2019 she played Lydia Quigley in the British American period drama ‘Harlots’. In 2022 she appeared in the series Magpie Murders and ‘Sherwood’.
