Plot Details Of The Film The Noel Diary

The Noel Diary
IMDb

The Noel Diary on Netflix is a remake of the same-titled bestseller by Richard Paul Evans. In the movie, Justin Hartley plays best-selling author Jacob Turner, who comes home for the holidays to settle his mother’s inheritance after she passes away.

Since his mother’s mental illness forced him out of the house when he was only sixteen years old, Jacob Churcher hasn’t visited his home in nearly twenty years.

Days before Christmas, Jacob receives a call from a lawyer informing him that his mother, with whom he had an estranged relationship, had passed away and left him the house. Jacob comes to settle the estate as well as to try to make up for the grief and violence he endured as a child.

And maybe cleaning out her house will be a little less dreary than spending the holidays alone, watching Christmas classics on repeat. But as it turns out, the property contains more than just painful memories; Jacob must sort through 20 years’ worth of clutter left behind by his mother’s hoarding.

As Jacob sifts through the debris like an archaeologist, he discovers a number of objects that are perplexing to him. One of these is a diary that was written by a young woman named Noel, who stayed with Jacob’s family while she was pregnant and whose identity Jacob cannot recall. That’s not the only thing that sounds like it came from the past.

Rachel, a lady, searching for her birth mother after being given up for adoption thirty years prior, pays Jacob an unwelcome visit. Jacob and Rachel start looking for Noel because they have the same goal of rewriting their respective futures and making sense of the events of the past.

Along the way, they come across more blessings than they could have ever dreamed of, including the opportunity to find love, grace, and forgiveness.
