Mike Flanagan, the brilliant mind responsible for many of Netflix’s finest horror shows, is back with another horror film book adaptation. With The Midnight Club now available on Netflix, Mike Flanagan’s next venture is the upcoming limited series The Fall of the House of Usher, which is set to premiere in 2023.

Mike Flanagan is the writer, director, and producer of the forthcoming Netflix Original horror franchise The Fall of the House of Usher.

The show will indeed be produced by Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy’s Intrepid Pictures, the very same company that has produced all of Flanagan’s films and television shows. Michael Fimognari, who has collaborated on Midnight Mass, The Haunting series, and even Netflix’s To All The Boys features, will direct episodes.

The Fall of the House of Usher Production Status?

The shooting was slated to begin on January 24th, 2022, in Vancouver, Canada, and would last four months, according to Production Weekly. It was supposed to be finished on Wednesday, May 25th, 2022.

Numerous actors posted about the movie on social media platforms, confirming that production had begun. Kate Siegel posted on the 26th of January, pointing to a signpost with the brand-new logo. Filming began on January 31st and continued until July 2022.

The show is being shot at Bridge Studios in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Many Netflix films have been shot there over the years, featuring Flanagan’s previous works like Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Bly Manor, and many more.

The show’s production ended on July 9th, with Flanagan delivering a touching tweet.

What is the Plot of the Series?

The play is based on several writings by Edgar Allan Poe and explores topics such as lunacy, family, solitude, and mystical personas. The story of The Fall of the House of Usher is told by a gentleman who has been asked to pay a visit to his boyhood friend Roderick Usher.

Usher progressively reveals how his twin sister Madeline has already been locked in the family vault while still alive. The guest hurries out as the entire housing splits and descends into a lake as she emerges in her blood-stained cloak.

Release Date

Considering production takes place in January and ends in July 2022, it’s doubtful that The Fall of the House of Usher will be released in 2022.

The series will most certainly be released in 2023. Assuming that all of Flanagan’s projects come out around October, our best bet is that the series will come out in October 2023.
