Blockbuster Season 1: Upcoming Series and Its Cast Members

Blockbuster Season 1 Update: Based upon the  Blockbuster LLC brand whose former name was Blockbuster Video, a new series has been made that will arrive this November on Netflix.

The previous name of Blockbuster LLC was Blockbuster Video. The company was a provider of video game rental services and home video based in America. Though at first, the company used to offer services only in the video rental shops, later on, it started using alternatives like DVD-by-mail, video on demand, streaming, and cinema theatre. Blockbuster was at its heyday in 2004.

But gradually it came down the path of descent owing to its poor leadership, the effect of the Great Recession, and the growing competition posed by Netflix. On September 23, 2010, the original company closed with the stores closing or being bought by another provider in the following years until only one franchised store remained open in 2019.

The titular series is set in this last store using the name of the Blockbuster brand known as The Last Blockbuster. The store is located in Bend, Oregon. It is the second series in which Netflix has used the brand, the first being a documentary film of 2020 named ‘The Last Blockbuster’ which told the story of the rise and fall of the video provider.

Vanessa Ramos has created the upcoming series. Production Company Universal Television at first pitched the series to the executives of NBC with no success. Later it was greenlit by Netflix. Netflix announced the show on November 17, 2021. Ramos previously worked in the workplace comedies like ‘Superstore’ and the very successful ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’.
