Why Taylor Swift Organizes Her Lyrics in Pen-Themed Categories?

By categorizing her songs into three “dorky” pen-themed categories, Taylor Swift has disclosed one of the tricks to her creative process. Swift said she had “never spoken about this publicly before because, well, it’s geeky” in her acceptance speech after receiving the NSAI Songwriter-Artist of the Decade Award.

But I’ve insidiously created genre classifications for the lyrics I compose. Their endearing names are Quill Lyrics, Fountain Pen Lyrics, and Glitter Gel Pen Lyrics.

This may seem strange, but she said I created these categories based on the writing implements I envisioned holding as I scribbled them down. I’m lacking a quill. Any longer. In a fit of rage, I shattered it.

Taylor Swift continued by highlighting the distinctions between the various categories, stating that the lyrics to her song “Quill” contain “words and phrasings (that) are antiquated if I was inspired to write it after reading Charlotte Bront or after watching a movie where everyone is wearing poet shirts and corsets. I

write in the Quill genre if my songs sound like a letter sent by Emily Dickinson’s great-grandmother while she sewed a lace curtain, she said before reading “Ivy” from “Evermore.”

Swift claims the Fountain Pen lyrics are among her most famous. It “means a contemporary plot or allusions with a lyrical twist. Reversing the meaning of a well-known phrase,” Swift stated.

“Trying to create a detailed image of a setting, the incense dust on the vinyl shelf and the door frame’s damaged paint, and putting yourself and anybody else listening in the space where the incident occurred. Everything: love, loss, everything. The songs I classify in this genre have an unflinching honesty that makes them seem like scrawled confessions sealed in an envelope.

Swift said, “The third category is Glitter Gel Pen, which lives up to its name. “Funny, lighthearted, bouncy, and wonderfully synced to the rhythm. Because they don’t take themselves seriously, the lyrics of Glitter Gel Pen don’t care if you don’t take them seriously.

The party lady who tells you that you look like an angel in the restroom is the glitter gel pen lyrics. In these uncertain times, it’s what we sometimes need,” she said before elaborating on how “Shake It Off” fits this description.

Swift said, “Because I adore doing this thing I am blessed to call a profession, which is why I organize my lyrics this way. My life’s job, pastime, and never-ending delight are writing music.

Taylor Swift has unveiled the complete track listing for her next album, “Midnights,” which included a song written in cooperation with Lana Del Rey called “Snow on the Beach.”

Swift has already discussed her latest song, “Anti-Hero,” and how it allows her to explore her darkest vulnerabilities.

Released on October 21, “Midnights” was revealed by Swift when she accepted the Video of the Year award at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards in August.
