The forthcoming film, directed and written by Garcia, follows Rex ( Emma Roberts), a Florida party girl who finds herself as NASA’s final chance after fumbling her way into training for the space program. Despite the fact that she is surrounded by cadets who are technically more qualified than her, she will utilize her “smarts, heart, and moxie” to push forward.

In addition to writing and directing, Garcia will executive produce the picture alongside feature star Roberts and Ventures’ Gideon Yu and Chris Bosco, as well as Michael Tadross. Stampede founder Greg Silverman and Stampede Ventures President of Production Jon Berg will produce on behalf of Stampede Ventures.

According to Jon Berg, President of Production at Stampede Ventures, “Emma is playing a character with incredible wit and comedic timing that perfectly embodies the role of REX, and Liz’s rendering of this character makes the female takeover of the STEM field so uniquely relatable and fun, and we hope it inspires young women interested in the field.” “The space race continues to fascinate us all,” he added.

For the uninitiated, Roberts has previously acted in another Netflix rom-com called Holidate, directed by John Whitesell and starring opposite Luke Bracey.

Emma Roberts is currently working on Marvel’s Madame Web, a Spider-Man spin-off. Tell Me Lies, based on Carola Lovering’s novel of the same name, is being produced by Roberts through her production company, Belletrist TV.
